Has anyone ever cut their string with a broadhead?

There was a guy at the shop talking about a hunt he took a female friend on. He got her in the stand and shortly after heard a racket and crying. Apparently she completely severed her string with her broadhead while setting up in the stand.

Ive had instances on the range where i slipped and the filedpoint brushed the string and i remember thinking how glad i wasnt practicing with a broadhead that time.

Seems last year someone on here posted about dropping an arrow before pulling up their bow and it landed on the string cutting it.

So has anyone here done it?

15years ago or more as I was walking in to my stand I jumped a buck. Not wanting to take my eyes of the buck I reached for an arrow which had fixed broadheads on them. Sure enough i grazed my broadhead across my string. Thankfully I barely touched it only cutting a strand or two. No i did not get a shot at the buck.

I did it 3 weeks ago to my cable, but thank the Good Lord that it didn't cut completely through. About a month ago I got some custom strings and cables built from a guy near where I live. He heard about, and he redone my cable at no charge. It was a blessing! Ain't God good?

not me

I have never done it myself (knock on wood...), but have seen several come in to the shop for that very reason....Many times, it happened in a closed bow case. Arrow wriggles loose somehow, and then cuts the string or cable. Keep broadheads in a quiver....

Kinda, I had a pocket knife out to trim a vine that was just hanging and irritating the %*$$ out of me for about two hours. As I put the knife back into my case, it was like slow motion, I glazed the bow string and watched the bow appear to explode in front of me! The cam lever spun and cut my hand between my index and fore fingers, but aside from that I consider myself lucky! About 5 stitches, bruised ego for being so stupid, new string/yoke and a real lesson learned! BTW, I also learned a little something about ER costs. Those 5 stiches were about $7,500!

Half of the people that come into the shop cut thier strings and they dont even know it... they have the hard bow cases with the arrows holders in them loaded with arrows with braodheads on them. ITs this everytime "i dont know what happened, it was fine the last time i had it out, when i opened it up the string exploded"
