I am not certain how to interpret this which allows archery to be mixed with guns?

Deer:
Deer Archery: Sept. 15-Feb. 28.
Deer Muzzleloader: Oct. 20-28 and Dec. 15-17.
Deer Modern Gun: Nov. 10-Dec. 2 and Dec. 26-28.
Deer Modern Gun Special Youth Hunt: Nov. 3-4 and Jan. 5-6

Can you hunters out there explain this to me? I thought archery was always done at different times than guns?

Thanks

In Arkansas you can hunt the whole season with a bow if you like, but you have to wear hunters orange during the muzzleloader and gun seasons. In years past, if it was gun season you could not take a doe with your bow in certain zones during the gun season unless you had a doe tag. But I think that has changed now and you can take a doe anytime with a bow. You may want to verify that.

Thanks for explanation, trying to figure this all out before Sept 15th.
Here another question,, what exactly are they referring to here as "shorter than 2 inches"? Are they talking about point length?

Three-point rule: A legal buck must have both antlers shorter than 2 inches (button buck) or have three or more points on one side of his rack. The three-point rule applies statewide unless mentioned below. And why would they want us to shoot young bucks instead of older ones?

They are saying that you can't shoot a spike with horns over 2 inches. If you mistakenly shoot a button buck thinking that it is a doe, then this is fine.

So they want us to only take young bucks? (two inches is pretty short isn't it?)

You can use archery equipment the entire hunting season. Whatever deer hunting season is open, regardless of what type of weapon you choose to hunt with, you have to follow the rules of the open season. Ex: during modern gun season you may hunt with a modern gun of your choice or a muzzleloader or a bow. If regardless of which wepon you choose during modern gun you have to wear hunters orange. During muzzleloading season you may hunt with a muzzleloader or a bow. Again you have to wear hunters orange. Hope this helps. If you need any more info PM me and I can help.
