What riser? If it's a WNS or Wiawis riser then the tolerance is +-2lbs of the marked value with the bolts out. If it's a different geometry then that'll change how much the shape of the limb has to change for it to be drawn back to 28".

 

The riser is a WNS Motive FX. With the limb bolts at middle setting it's 37 lbs. Wound out as much as I dare, it measures 35.5 lbs. It was measured on good equipment at an archery store. I had been shooting a different 30 lb club bow which was comfortable for me. This one is significantly heavier to draw. It makes me shake. I might just have to use it until I get used to it.

 

If you purchased them overseas, they may not be authentic WNS limbs. Knockoffs are notorious for not meeting specs but looking like the authentic product. It's easy to create a silkscreen. If there is a Bowyer in your area, he/she might be able to adjust them down a few pounds with some sanding and planing.

 

I purchased them from Australia's leading archery store. They're the genuine article. After contacting them it seems most likely that they are 38 lb limbs mislabeled as 30 lb. I'll have to decide whether to return them or persevere with them.

 

Risking injury is not worth persevering in my opinion.

I have C3 limbs and they are spot on, with the understanding that those limbs are rated at their lowest possible setting. That being said, mislabeling is always possible, as is an inaccurate or poorly calibrated bow scale. No way of telling from here. If you believe they were mis-marked, then the dealer should exchange them.

A bow that is even slightly "too heavy" may not hurt "you" but will impede your progress, maybe a lot. Return them.

Are their draw weights determined at 28 inches as normal?

WNS (along with most Korean brands I think) measure their limb weight at 26 1/4 inches nock to plunger (28" AMO) with the limb bolts wound out to the max recommended position.

 

Thanks for the info. It would be nice if they standardised with everyone else. Grrrrrr.

 

But there is no standard geometry for risers. So even if they all tested with bolts all the way in, there is still no standard angle for what that all the way in position would be.
