While I agree, if he did not use his tag on the deer or register the deer, can you charge him with wildlife crimes? You could do felony property theft, trespassing, weapon while committing a felony which are probably WAY worse than just losing hunting rights.

IMO no different than going onto a farm and shooting dairy cow. Penalty should be about the same. In this case the deer aren't really "wild" or belonging to the public, so those types of penalties like "poaching" probably won't apply. To me this is yet another symptom of the disease in this country. Oh and an edit. thehuntingnews.com is a bot/fake news website. It doesn't list its authors or any other information, you can tell by the articles/writing that it's not done by anyone with any sort of background in journalism or similar training (more than likely it's from the Mid-east), it doesn't list original sources of information. It's really much more of a pot-stirrer,certainly not a legit source, and it collects your information. just an fyi.

Theft has been occurring longer than any of us have been on this earth, and in a lot more places than just this country.

Did it say in the article of what the deer was worth I mean what the owner charged for the hunt of that deer. It isn’t cheap. Years ago I guy shot a Birmingham al zoo deer named Bucky. He might have gotten away with it, but he entered it in a big buck contest the next year. Busted

I have said it before and will say it again and again. Big bucks make people do/say stupid things. Evident from the article and some of the comments on this thread. Its a animal not a human being.

He could of at least caped it out a little better, for a shoulder mount! Lol
What a piece of chit! He so cool, gotta wear shades! Reminds of the wild game dildos.

Author did raise a good question and I quote "Now I am not sure if you can call what he did poaching. Since it was a privately owned animal would it be more like stealing livestock? I am not sure."
That's exactly what it is at that point........livestock. So the penalty should be the same as if it was a beef cow.

Wildlife officials manage some of the high fence ranches just like public. Limits, tags, and seasons all apply. Not sure exactly how it works but I do know that much.
Looks like a hoax anyway. Who would jump the fence and take the hero shots?
