Mathews cam bearings

Is there a cam bearing issue on the newer Mathews Halons, Triax and Vertix’s? I’ve had 2 people come in the last week with bad cam bearings (3 or 4 cams). One guy had both cams go out before bringing it to me which he had to buy new cams and the other came to me making a cracking noise and a horrid high paper tear which upon closer inspection had a bearing falling apart. Luckily warranty covered it. Just curious if it’s coincidence or something others have been hearing about?

None that I heard about are seen? I got about 6000 shot's on My Vertix and not one problem with it. Other then trying to decide if it going to be My main hunting bow are the Ridge 32??

I’m thinking I might have the same problem. My vertix is making a big twanging noise. I have removed everything, but obviously the rest. If a bearing is out will the bow be impossible to tune? I’ve had a lot of help on here and tried everything, but checking the bearing as I’m 300 miles from my shop. Thanks!

I don't know if they are having systemic issues or not but I sure hear about WAY more cam bearing issues coming out of Mathews bows than all other brands combined. Not sure what is going on.

I had a bad bearing in top cam of traverse!

I think it is a minor issue that some
Folks make a big issue, I have a huge Mathews dealer near me I mean they sale the Mathews!

Only issues this year have been some module issues on the vertix 2 or 3 cracked
Limbs, and a few cam bearings.

All manufactures have little flaws anything mass produced does if they didn’t they would offer a lifetime warranty because their would be no need too!

Well, a while back you said Mathews hadn't had a problem with the Loctite on their cam screws. They had. They sent us replacement screws for EVERY cam we had in the shop. You called me a liar because I had told you about it.

Maybe a case of the same thing here? You didn't see it so it doesn't exist.

Axle bearing, been hearing more on Mathews than any other bow.

No issues with Vertix, but my Halon has a bad bearing at one point. Had a tear I couldn’t tune out, took it to shop, they couldn’t tune it out either so they pulled it apart and it was quite evident then. No telling how many arrows I’ve put through it since or my Vertix this year without issue though.

I have a TRX38 and so far so good, no issues with people I know who have the traverse and vertix so far. I know if you watch the video that Jesse Broadwater did on the top hat change you can over tighten the screw and the cam will be in a bind, the avs bearing I don’t know if that will effect them or not.

Like others have said someone will find a issue and exploit it and some will sweep them under the cover and say they don’t have one, as long as they fix it or give me a fix I don’t mind. Maybe a bad batch of bearings like they had with the Chill R that some said didn’t happen.

Thx guys...it seems it’s something to be aware of but according to what I’m hearing it’s not like the Bowtech limb issue. Tell you one the Halon I had is still potentially the best bow I ever shot. Definitely the best draw cycle. Just wasn’t sure about the grip. This Triax I just finished was finicky but sure enough blasted paper holes once a standard tune was done. That’s always nice. Reminded me of my Halon. I can barely pull 70# on some bows but this one pulled like butter at 70 as the customer wanted.

AT has a lot of negative people, that’s all. Whether it’s Bowtech limbs, Hoyt sight mount, Mathews bearings, PSE roller guard, and many others, people like to bash. That’s all it is.

Anybody know where are the Mathews bearings made?

I’ve only seen a few bearing failures over the years on Mathews, Hoyt’s, Pse’s...they are the only ones I remember that come to mind. It’s rare but can happen. I’ve pressed new ones in from the manufacturer or they replaced the whole idler or cam. Not a big deal.
