I got a Mathews Title 38 at the end of April, and the draw stops felt is already falling off.

What do people do to replace this? I’ve heard of some people using heat shrink. I have some Lucky Stops Mute Stuff I could cut and recover myself, but not sure how often I will have to replace it or will this hold up better than the Mathews felt?

Any ideas would be welcome, thanks.

Possibly a thin flexible piece of leather, attached with Barge cement was a solution I've read about in past.

 

3M or some other brand of adhesive backed felt works well, as thin as they make it

It’s my first Mathews so I’ve never come across it before.

 

I feel if I owned a mathews I'd probably just remove the felt all together. unless it had some sharp edging under that felt.

 

I got the same deal on my triax and v3. It’s bothering me now because it makes it harder to accurately check cam timing. I think I’m gonna pop em off and just kiss em with a lighter a few times. That should take care of it

I talked to Mathews about this and was told any felt the same dimension will work. look at how your felt goes on and apply the same way preserving the bell area, as it can't have anything that fills that gap. There has been issue where folks have done that and the cable slips around it and locks the bow up. I use the adhesive backed moleskin and it works great.

 

Not convinced the felt adds anything on a target bow. Cable basically pushes through it onto the mod in no time anyway.

Would be interesting to try blanking the thread and plasti-dipping the end of the modules though

 

No reason to even put new felt on a target bow. Its only purpose is to quiet it down once it hits the cables. Take them both off, replace with any other felt. It really makes no difference in performance.

 

The bottom one fell off tonight, I took the other one off and emailed Mathews. They quickly responded saying it is only there to make the contact quieter when hitting the stops.

can replace it with any other felt or shoot without it, did a few shots and it didn’t really feel any different so may go without.

 

you can use any felt you want. just make sure what you do to 1 cam you do to the other.
in other news when one of my felts get messed up I just peel them off both cams, I have never seen any issues by not having the felt, also no deer I have asked after I shot them said my bow sounded any different then the next one

 

thanks, one peeled off by itself earlier so I’ve taken the other one off. So will see how it goes, the few shots after didn’t feel any different.

 

I shot last night with the felt removed, it felt the same, a little more noise when it hits the stops but nothing really noticeable unless listening for it.

 

Black electrical tape would work, could use 2 pieces of that on top of each other.
Another would be bat grip tape.
If you did not want to use felt that is.
