My draw in Mathews is 28 and I feel comfortable shooting it, it's a very great Bow!

 

IMO it draws better than any of the newer models.

 

I will agree, I love my Triax. But I'm also a 5'3" with a 25" (24.5 for Mathews) DL so the string angle isn't an issue for me. I turned my limbs down to 65# and can shoot it all day. if you can get a good deal on it I think you won't be disappointed.

 

27.5 dl here and it was my goto hunting bow since i bought it, 2 others just hanging
now my v3x 29 is going out primary and triax will be my backup

 

Yeah I wouldn't get it if you are drawing over 28 inches. However if it's a ground blind tree stand rig it may not matter. There's just so many 30 plus options out there I don't know why people settle for these short bows.

I have an opportunity to buy a Mathews triax.
If anyone has any experience with this bow what are your thoughts?
I am a little leery about buying it because of the 28 inch ATA.

If your "leery" about anyhing that's your sign.

 

If the bow fits you…they are fantastic little bows and don’t worry about the short length. I used mine for a weekly 100 yard competition and I shot K40 in 3D tournaments quite well with it. Mine was 60# @27” DL

 

I’m shootings mine at 62# with 27” mods. actually drawing 27 3/8”. It’s a freaking stud. Bow holds on the x as well as my Trx36 full target setup. With the cams, the bow draws like a 30-31” bow.

 

I have a 29” draw and the string angle is steep but manageable. It is a great bow. It use it for all my hunting needs.

 

It was the greatest revolution in bows ever.....until the next one came out. I think the Triax got more reviews and hype than almost any bow I can ever remember. Just make sure its all good to go. And do not give too much for it. Many times people ask a lot for these bows which are now like four generations old. If your going to pay half what the bow sold for new, I would look at just getting a later model. About any bow that was a decent model is worth a third of new. But you have to factor in any accessories that may come with it.

 

I shot a 70# 30” draw Triax all last season and loved every moment of it. Fast and accurate bow

 

It’s hard to beat for a tree stand bow .
I’ve had all the Mathews and I like it just as well as the v3x honestly.

 

If you are worried based on past experience with a shorter bow, trust your gut. If it’s because some internet dude says it’s too short, ignore that. Lots of folks shot this bow just fine. They were a major evolution point in the Mathews line; ever since the Triax other bows have been compared to Mathews for quietness.
