I wonder if Mathews would special order a bow with a Phase 4 riser and VX33 limbs?

This would be for someone that may want to try the new intergraded stabilization system for the front bar but didn’t trust the 8 limb/rubber piece design just yet. Obviously the new back bar mount and intergraded stabilizer would work on both risers.

Don’t drag the new intergraded stabilizer cost into this thread as it’s been beat to death on other Mathew threads. We all know they are over priced compared to others stabilizers which you can still use.

Everyone is worried about the rubber between the limbs breaking down over time.

Mathews warranties every bow for ever, as long as you are the original owner.

1. Either they have made a quality product that will stand the test of time, or…..

2. They know most Mathews guys sell in a year or 2 anyway, so it doesn’t really matter to Mathews.

How much could that little rubber piece cost anyways ? Worst case you’re only going to be out of 100-200$ heck I’ve got stabilizers that are 20yrs rd old and that rubber is still holding up

I highly doubt you will be able to special order a bow like that.

I can tell you that Mathews will not create a "frankenstein", one-off bow. And they will not sell just a riser alone, nor limbs to someone without an established serial number registered.

I got to play with one last night for just a minute, there was a buzz around it and it was busy. But after having it in hand I don't think its rubber. Its a mix of more hard substance. Not sure what it is but don't think its just rubber in there. Its kind of a crazy design.

I also want to see how they hold up after time but I would bet Mathews has been working on this for years if not longer to see if they hold up. I bet it goes a long time before it breaks down. What I think will happen before it fails is it will fade or haze in color. Just my opinion though

8 limbs concerns me more than the rubber between them. I’m giving this bow consideration though. I just got myself to acquiesce to 4 limbs though being a former solo cam turned Elite shooter due to the (former) simplicity of their bows when mathews went split limb. Baby steps…

Mathews refers to that substance separating the limbs as 'vibration damping rubber', not a 'urethane compound'. Can anyone guess in Mathews limited lifetime warranty what is not under warranty in consumable parts? DAMPERS. So my guess is they won't warranty any breakdown of these dampers and you will have to replace them at your own expense. And you won't be replacing just one cause if they do fail related to 'normal exposure' to elements or use of the bow, then all of them will need to be replaced.

I would LOVE to hear a response from Mathews themselves addressing this. Waiting.....

Man people really get worked up over Mathews marketing and selling their products and trying something new. It’s so easy to just not buy it if you don’t want it. I think their continued success year after year drives people crazy. With that being said, I’m not buying a new Mathews this year. My v3x will stay along for the ride this year.
And I also doubt Mathews will do a custom build for the OP, but he could sure do a frankenbow on his own.

As someone who works at a shop that is a Mathews dealer. You could put v3x limbs on a phase 4 riser the only issue is Mathews themselves would not install them or let you order the bow like that. You would have to buy a phase 4 then you would end up having to buy v3x limbs to have a shop put them on for you.

I think it’s pretty clear Mathews won’t do any custom work beyond strings and colors of the riser/limbs. The rubber in the limbs is the greatest gimmick in the bow market and the marketing department of Mathews continues to out perform every other company by a wide margin. I enjoy a free market to select which gimmick I’ll buy into and 8 piece rubber lined limbs isn’t one of them.
