I thought I’d put together a review of the Mesh Replacement Seats that are sold by user “BoonerBrad” on AT.
After a full season of use, I can say they are the real deal! These are awesome and a great upgrade to any XOP or Lonewolf hang on tree stand.
I currently run 5 XOP Vanish tree stands and like others, love the stand, just hate the seat/seat pad.
After looking through the comments and discussion on AT thread for these mesh seats, I decided to give them a try. The biggest question I had was which size to go with. BoonerBrad offers a small and a large seat, I decided to go with the large seat. For reference I am 5‘11“ and weigh 210 pounds.
I ended up purchasing two of the large seats to give them a try.
They were shipped out quickly and I received in perfect condition.
The installation was easy and re-uses the existing bolt/washer hardware from your Treestand. The tolerances are tight, there is no play once the seat is installed with the factory hardware from your original tree stand.
The large seat is perfect. It is comfortable, all my weight is on the mesh seat. I can easily swivel my butt from side to side while seated with ease and pretty darn quitely too. I can stand up and easily flip the seat up, there is plenty of room from edge of seat the edge of my XOP vanish. The material is smooth and allows you to move and slide on this seat and be pretty darn quite.
The seat easily and silently flips up and really folds up tight against the tree. I have not had any issues with the seat being in the way of my legs while standing. The seat has the adjustment bolt to fine tune the angle of the seat.
Since this is a review, the only minor comment I would make that is a questionable part of this seat and I do mean minor…..is that the adjustment bolt that adjusts the angle of the seat has rusted a little bit from being out in the weather and since it has done that, I can not hand turn that bolt with my fingers. Keep in mind that the entire seat frame is aluminum so the only rust is this bolt (pictured) not a deal breaker in the least and is an easy fix by replacing this bolt with a stainless bolt. Probably less than a $2 fix to make this seat absolutely perfect.
These seats really excel on full day or long hours on the stand!
The mesh has held up well so far and only time will tell, but as of now, I am happy with the durability.
The seat folds down nice for transport as well.
Buy with confidence, Overall I am extremely happy with these seats and plan to convert the rest of my stands in the near future.
