1800 mile round trip turn and burn to MO this weekend!
This is becoming Labor Day tradition! Wish we had more time but it is what it is!
Leaving PA tomorrow and heading out to Private to fix some cell cams we are having issues with. Solar panels and lithiums have died which is strange. We do want to check out a patch of public that’s not too far away if we get time.

we will have most of Saturday and Sunday to enjoy in Missouri before the 925 mile trip home Monday.

we will be using LOTS of permethrin…. Chigger tore us up last year!
Have a good trip!

Running cams now and watching bean fields each evening. Daughters' softball starting up will cut into those evenings but I've seen more good bucks this year than any year I can remember. Hope it continues.

@Dafis I've always had good luck with Skin So Soft, odorless. I'm allergic to chiggers and the welts get as big as quarters...SSS works great for me fwiw

Another lake rat hunting Camden county here but I spread out and hit up a few others as well. Lots of good pics from across the state. Dry conditions are a little concerning with ehd, hope you guys got water around. Anyway I’ll likely hold out until some cold fronts come in at some point in Oct. Sept just too dang hot for me to sit in a stand even at 80*. Food plots need some rain hopefully it’s on the way next week.
That's just down the road from me. A lot of deer down there

Got a problem I hope someone can help me with. So I’ve got great deer this year but I’ve also got turkeys on cam daily. Should I get my deer first?
Empty the quiver on the first thing that comes through

Spotty in CeMo....around my house loaded, but they could be loaded even if a forest fire burned through yesterday. Bam...full next day

Buddy's son put down a 165" 9pt last night in CeMo. It is a stud.

I've heard cam action has slowed down, talking with fellow hunters at softball games/etc.

Took a coworkers 10 your old son youth hunting today. Didn’t see squat in am Heard two shots. Was expecting way more. Went back out around 2:30 and had deer moving immediately. Couldn’t get a shot at a decent 8 bumping does. The youth ended up shooting a doe for his first deer. We had a great time today!

Sat in a blind, in the rain over a green field and saw a ton of deer last evening (sun, 10/30). Almost pulled the trigger on a main frame 8 with a dagger point going sideways/in on its left main beam. Cool looking buck. Came into work this morning early so I could leave early to hunt and saw a big buck along rte B outside JCMO. Going to try to hunt these two evenings during this front.

I want to mention I saw two different bucks make scrapes at this spot. One was freshening up an existing and was standing on his hind legs to reach the branch above him. That was cool to watch! The buck I passed made two new scrapes and a couple rubs too. He seemed pissed at life lol

Another slow evening. Had a button come under stand, then 10 minutes a fawn doe. 1 other doe in field 120 yds away. This was early, 5 oclock.
This full moon is playing havoc.
Slow night for me too. I wouldn have thought the opposite. Going back out at 2 today

Last night, I sat in a blind about 30 yards from 3 scrapes and a rub I watched a buck make Sunday night. It's at a four wheeler path intersection on this farm and the deer just like using this intersection for making sign. Saw some young ones...Two different times I had something wind me back behind me a ways. Not sure how I'm supposed to hunt those. Maybe they didn't like the blind, but it's been there for a month....??

Have off from Friday afternoon thru Thursday to hunt Schuyler county. Forecast is looking too warm. 4 days of 60 degrees or better. A great time of year but not what you would hope for. Anyone have any good hunting stories in warm weather this time of year? What is your strategy going to be for the warm front?
Not terribly hot. I'd get out there. I've seen deer on the early drive into work each day this week, all bucks

With it warming up I'll probably just hunt the next two mornings. I got a stud 10pt on cam/scrapes 10/30 at 11am. It was cold that day but still, middle of the day over a scrape. Give it a shot

Saw deer all weekend, just nothing big enough for me. Son saw two shooters but not in range. They were def moving. Time change cuts out hunting after work. I'll try with a rifle this weekend
