Dear all,
as the title suggests, I am interested in your thoughts on what is the most maintenance free and robust compound bow? I don't like complicated equipment as a rule, but I want to give compound a try, so the most simple and trouble free bow is what I'm after.
Regards,

what is the most maintenance free
Don't think there is one, they all require about the same maintenance since its mostly your strings/cables that wear the quickest. My CRX 35 has been solid, roller guard (no slide to replace or mess up the cables), good factory cable and strings. Personally I would go cheaper and see what happens, you might not like a compound.

The early 90's bows were better as far as maintenance goes.

IMO most of the problems come from pressing the bow wrong, dry firing the bow or shooting arrows that are to light to get the extra speed that seems so crucial to everyone right now.

I usually shoot 8+ grains of arrow weight to every pound of draw weight so the majority of the energy gets put into the arrow......NOT The bow. Never have had an issue with any brand but again I don't push em' that hard.

My dren is pretty maintenance free. Wax strings check/ tighten screws and shoot the dang thing. And from my experience with it, i find it durable.

I think a good string makes a lot of bows better. I really cannot make a comment on single cams because I have never owned one, but I know a guy who sells Mathews and is as die hard Mathews as they come, and he says that it is a myth that a single cam cannot go out of tune. I think the moral of the story is all bows need some maintenance. I have not owned enough bows to know which is actually the most maintenance free. Maybe someone who has owned many different brands and many different cam systems can make a comment on this. I think you need to compare bows with the same strings also. If you compare different bows with different quality strings I do not think you are comparing apples to apples.
