I just saw this from the ATA show and hadn't heard about it earlier. Spartan has a new camera coming out that will do live streaming with sound on command. Seems like a cool concept but it does have it's drawbacks. I'm guessing that it's going to be real hard on batteries.

Even if batteries are reduced in half, Spartans batteries last 6 months.. I put mine out in Sept, still have 2 bars Atleast on all of them. 2-4K in pics..

Plus, you aren’t going to live stream when a Spike or doe walks by, it’s a great option to have to capture some great video, Spartan is tops and keeps getting better..

One use I heard them discussing was the fact you could put out a camera or multiple cameras out during spring gobbler season. You could put some out in known roosting areas or field edges. You can watch fields for turkeys and also actually listen for gobbling on the roost.

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum, and was doing some research when I came across this. I'm a Spartan Dealer, and they haven't released this information to the dealers yet, and the ETA is still unknown. They're expecting them to be available before the Summer of this year.

That being said, I figured I would give a few differences between the Spartan GoCam and Ghost.

The GoCam is 6v, the Ghost cam is 12v. The Ghost cam also has a rechargeable internal battery which allows you to plug a solar panel directly into the camera, without the need of an external battery. The Ghost cam also has GPS capabilities while turned on, so it may be easier to track if it gets stolen (as long as the person stealing it doesn't turn it off, or get into it).

The Go Live capability will be very useful to a lot of individuals, including myself. If you live in the South, you know that we are experiencing a feral hog pandemic. These live cameras will make it a lot better for those of us whom lack the desire to buy a $8000 hog trap with live streaming capabilities. While pictures can do what you want it them to most of the time, there's still margin for error. Live stream will show you exactly what's there, at that exact time.

Hope this helps guys. Not trying to sway anyone either direction, just trying to supply information to those seeking it. Cheers!

I think the real advantage is the 12 volt battery that can have a solar panel hooked up to it without an external battery.
If there is a delay on the picture because of your network you might have some kind of delay on the live stream. If I have these on all my hog feeders If I get a picture sent to me or live stream I am going to investigate said feeder with weapon of choice in hand and hope your delay is not that much.

Also, when I say margin for error, it's no different than sending a picture to some of your friends. Sometimes, the picture takes a minute or two to come through. Same scenario with these cameras. I feel (trying to be unbiased as possible) after seeing Spartan compared to a few others, that Spartan is a little ahead of the curve, but even still there's only so much blame that can land on the camera when you're dealing with a cellular network. I like my chances live streaming a lot more, especially if the camera sends me a picture and I know there's activity. I mean, who wouldn't want to see whatever they desire hunting on their property in live view? In my case, I could easily sit there and watch a Buck sit there and eat up all my corn!

Big Spartan fan.Have 8 and they have been great.Like Spike Elk I struggle to see the need or 'uses' here.Only thing I can visualize for me would be to trigger 'spurts' of streaming here/there.Like a 'dawn' or 'dusk' check in certain places. Will need answers to reliability, batt life etc before I'd consider these.
All thoughts on usage appreciated.

The live stream video with sound would be killer for spring time and listening for birds gobbling on the roost like previously mentioned.

The on demand video would be very addicting and would be hard on battery and data as well.

Looking forward to see how the reviews are when they come out later this summer.

So far the best reasons to have live streaming cams are...listening for turkey, hogs on bait and deer on corn piles. Although with the baiting, you’d have pics being sent anyway...

I’m not being negative here...I’m honestly searching for a practical use for this feature, but coming up blank (for our purposes).
We don’t bait(illegal and spreads cwd) and we know where the turkey roost usually.

If you get a pic of a good buck, summon the live stream feature, he’ll like have moved off by the time you’ve got real time video going.

Anyone have more ideas?

I have spartan ghost cams and also don’t see a need for this live streaming cam
