just wondering what the difference between a 5h and 6L are? They are both on bows that max out at 60 lbs......but one is a scepter 3 and one is a scepter 4

5h is 5 heavy, 6l is 6 light. They are deflection codes, and relate to the poundage that the limb maxs out at.
Essentially they are 5 lbs apart. Why they vary from one bow to the other, it is likely the fact (in this case) that there are different cams on those two bows.
The 6's are 5lbs heavier....When Martin makes a bow 60lbs would be the target weight plus or minus a couple of pounds....Also, I'm guessing here, with the difference in the Scepter III and IV there would also need to be a change in the limb to achive different poundages....
A 5L on one bow may max at 60# while on another may max at 50 or 70#. The reasons are limb angle on the riser and cams.
I have a shadowcat extreme with 9L's. When I had Fury 4 cams I think it was around 80# while now with Nitrous C cams it maxes at 60 #s with the same limbs.

I 've read it this way:
the numbers make increments in 5lbs, the leters make increments in between the numbers in approx 2lbs. there are 3 letters, High,Medium and Low or(heavy, Medium and Light??)
if you have a bow, with lets say Nitrous A cam max out at 60 lbs with the 5h elite limbs, then if you would put 6h elite limbs in that bow you would expect 65 lbs max. if you would take 6M limbs then you can expect 63lbs Max, and if you would take 6L limbs, you would expect 61 Lbs max....
the Nitrous cam has a Draw lenght range of 3", the Martin charts says that there can be a drawweight change of 3 lbs throughout that range, If you need to set the module on the lower end of the range because of the drawlenght you want, then it can be that the bow maxes out a little lower with the limbs according to the the limbcharts ....so if you order a bow with a certain drawweight @ your required drawlenght, than Martin can put in the limbs that will provide your requirements.

I always wondered why the limbs on my Shadowcat had 7L on the limbs!

So what does that make 9H limbs, and is the number always first, ie mine could be 9H or H6, depending which way you look at it ? also if i put a set of Furious X Dual cams on my scepter II with it's 9H Limbs, will i still be able to set it at 58-60 # ?
