Do you pee in the stand?

Cool weather, I don't worry about it one bit. However, in warm climates (early season) it sure can broadcast some scent.
(Although it does take some "acrobatics" to pee from a saddle. ~ Which complicates things for me.)

PS: Years ago, I once had two moose come in, and lie down almost directly right under my stand. I "held it at long as I could" but eventually had to relieve myself. I suspected all heck to break loose as I put my bow down, stood up & peed right in front of the moose's head. ( I literally could have peed on the cows head had I chosen to!) ~ To my surprise, the moose just looked around dazed & confused. I was actually able to sit back down, put my gloves back on & grab my bow (resting in a limb) without spooking the two moose. Fifteen minutes later, they got up and "casually" wandered away. I was amazed they never looked up. I honestly think they thought it was rain! (The whole incident made me realize how "stupid" moose can be!) ~ I kept imagining what would have happened, had I tried this with a couple of does instead!

Years ago I was one of the first people to try it and throw a game cam on it. I bet that is one of the post you saw. I made a mock scrape and peed in it. Within 24 hours I had 5 bucks (2 mature) 2 coyotes, a bobcat, and some ***** come to the scrape. A buddy killed the largest buck two evenings later (20" wide 9 point). I view it as an attractant now and have seen it work many times.

I have an ol man stand and before I got it I was online reading reviews and one dude said he liked the web seat because it made taking a dump easier. I thought he was kidding but maybe he was serious. It would deter any body from hunting out of your stand if you left it hanging.

To pee, or not to pee, that is the question.

My brother will only use a bottle to pee in and swears by it. I'm going to pee by his stand some time.

I left my pee bottle twice this season, told and told myself don't do it. It got so bad I had to and I mean had to, stood up walked maybe thirty yards to whizz in the direction that I never saw one come in. I went and sat back down and about ten minutes later a spike came exactly from that direction stopped where I went. Then walked in the exact path I took, walked right past me about five yards to my right never notice me. Then the other time a group of doe went right to it. I still take a bottle so I don't have to move or walk but I know that can't be coincidence. Fresh doe pee smells a lot like human urine every time I've ever tore in to one, I always wondered if it smelled like what you can buy and I say save the five bucks. Now estrus might be a dif story. Do it right where you want em!

I use a bottle, I like to keep the area as natural as possible, the fewer new smells I introduce the better. It's funny that people will spend $500 on a scent free suit and then pee off their stand, seems counter intuitive.

yup, thats a good point... these guys hunting in scent blocker clothes then peeing off their stand makes wearing the suit pointless.

Yup or you could have some deer scent down there... we dont know that for sure.

I used to be a scent freak, now I just don't care as much. I still play the wind and wash my camo all the time but I've noticed the deer care less about the smell of predator urine. I pee in mock scrapes and on rotten stumps and get great pictures of deer.

right off the stand. I've also shot several deer while hitting a cigarette. Bad scent is only what deer aren't used to smelling. In farm country, diesel, gas, cigarettes, piss etc are all things they've smelled many times over. There was a great video sometime ago in Texas where the outfitter actually put out "perfume" bottles and watched deer reactions……..nothing! They smelled it, were inquisitive and moved on. NOT saying that you can do what you want with scent but, being in the right place is the key imo.

This thread made me laugh. You guys sure have it a lot easier in this department!

Long time rifle girl...but I'm new to the world of bow hunting. Came to this forum and lurked for a while...it has been both educational...and definitely entertaining. With a bit more drama than I expected from a group of primarily guys

i pee right off the stand, it seems the deer dont care, and plus i pour deer piss all around my deer stand as well before i get in it...but last year i started drinking 5 hour energies, and drinking all the water i need at night before i go to bed so when i wake up im hydrated and i already pee a couple times before i go out for the hunt, its less movement in the stand :)
