Premium index releases and the new scott s2

I see a lot of guys asking about higher end indexes and everyone that shoots one has a favorite. I prefer the dual sear as they are like a mini thumb button and have crisp triggers, no travel. I would have loved to include the Stan strike x but they unveiled it only to never produce them and i wasn't a fan of the xtinction. The s2 is new and a damn fine release. It's comparable to the execution but with a better strap, more refined tension adjustment, and perhaps a tad bit better trigger but it's close. Everyone knows about the execution and execute. If you're a target guy, the execute imo is the best option. It's closed jaw, comes with a heavier spring if you want more tension, and it's heavy. If you're a hunter that shoots a lot the execution or s2 all day. Open hook style, the s2 has a spring on the hook and is a nice feature, web strap or global swivel on the execution only the web strap on the s2 which I prefer. They don't get as much tension as the execute but they get plenty. All three are great releases if you're an index shooter. Last and kinda least the trufire exert.....😶 Is it better than most cheaper releases, sure but it's not one of the three mentioned above. One thing I do love about it is the weight and fold back feature we all know from trufire. The tension adjustment is on the body of the release. You loosen a screw and slide it up and down and leaves a lot to be desired imo. The travel is on the trigger itself, you only have one trigger option with this release the others come with two that can be mounted in different locations. For the the price you'd expect more from the release itself, the packaging, and brief Chinese instructions. Obviously I'm leaving out some great options but I cannot speak to them.

I was considering the Scott S2 but the video review on Lancaster Archery said the auto return for the hook has a rubber band. Rubber bands break and that part of the release worries me. I had a deer feeder one time that I paid several hundred dollars for and it quit running do to a cheap 50 cent plastic part that couldn't be replaced. I wouldn't want that to happen to a $170 release.

Here's what's missing in this world. An index thumb hybrid. Make the grip of a Stan or thumb with index trigger. Scott made the stingray and discontinued it 8 yrs ago. I have one left. It's the mist accurate release for me. I can anchor like a thumb but have control of index. The Keaton was a good try but I hate the handle..

I thought the Carter Like Mike 1 was a double sear. You have to close the hook and then push a small cocking tab down which pops up once you pull the trigger. I don't know if the Like Mike 2 also has the cocking tab as well.

As nice as the S2 is, I think I'm going to try some of the other premium wrist releases. As I mentioned, I would like to be able to adjust it heavier. I'll be posting it in the classifieds today hopefully if I can get some pictures uploaded. If anyone else would like to try the Scott S2 for a basically brand new release at a slight discount, let me know. My loss is your gain as they say.
