School me on EC cam mods.

I have always shot the EC cam with HL mods set at 90%. I have read that if you set them to 80% your draw will be shorter and speed will be essentially the same. Both LL and FL mods go from 65-75% Let-off. They are supposed to be faster. Do both follow HL in that DL changes? Also, I assume FL is faster than LL even at same let-off? What, shorter valley? What is the difference in draw cycle between LL and FL mods.

I can't say much about the density of the HL modules because I had to test them and replace them with FL. Due to my low power, the rope felt very loose like sausages, even at 80%, which seemed like it was practically 85%, I suppose that with 70 pounds it would feel a little better.
A certain weight on the string helps me hold the bow better.
There is a big difference in the feeling of the FL modules, at 75% much more suitable for me and faster although with an even shorter valley, I love them and they are more similar to the feeling of Evo, Minievo cams.
I have never tried the LL mods....
FL mods slightly lengthen the DL. I had to change the letter of the position. and play a little with the stops. Furthermore, I think that those 80, 85 and 90% simply do not exist, you only shorten and lengthen the valley a little. I haven't measured it. It's just my opinion based on feelings...
I am waiting to hear opinions from other more experts, of course because it is my only bow with EC cams

Thanks all, I am awaiting a set of LL mods to try out and am in the search for a set of FL mods to try out in the off season.

Did a little testing this morning. My bow, my arrows, my chrono and my coffee.

Bow: Mach 34, EC2 with 13 limbs/66.5# max draw weight. Raptor peep, d-loop, and cat whiskers. All settings on the I position.

FL mods, 75%
I: 28.5” measured draw
430 gr arrow: 264 fps avg
620 gr arrow: 223 fps avg

LL mods, 75%
I: 28.375” measured
430 gr arrow: 261 fps avg
620 gr arrow: 220 fps avg

HL mods, 80%
I: 28” measured
430 gr arrow: 255 fps avg
620 gr arrow: 215 fps avg

HL mods, 90%
I: 28.25” measured
430 gr arrow: 256 fps avg
620 gr arrow: 215 fps avg

To me:
FL mods build sooner and hold, then transition to back wall, short valley. Smooth draw cycle, just stiffer for more of it.

LL mods, very similar feel to the HL mods. Biggest difference I could feel was at the end. The bow just comes to a stop into a shorter valley than the HL mods. Very linear, no felt drop off like the Hl mods either. My preferred feel on this bow.

HL mods, both 80/90% settings. The smooth draw most people rave about. Just varying degrees of the drop into the longer valley and lower holding weights. I prefer the 80% setting due to the feeling of more control on let down.

Just one persons testing on one bow but will hopefully give an idea of what to expect.

Kind of looks like DL is a big factor in the speed change with all the Mods. Each bow has such a different feel. My DNA that I put EC cams on feels the best to me (All with EC HL at 90%). Brace is the biggest change and how they build power. My NTN is the one I dislike the most, it dumps so fast into valley I get a thump from stops hitting. Maybe this is from me shooting all 3 and expecting resistance a little longer. Maybe LL Mods would change this.

Agree completely with Schiene102. I also have a Mach 34 and tried all three mods. 70 lbs, 31.25" draw, EC2. I picked up 8 fps from the the HL (80%) to the LL (75%), and then 1 fps from the LL to the FL. 480 gr arrow. I thought the draw cycle on the FL was definitely not worth the extra 1 fps and honestly felt ripped off buying those, as a 1 fps difference hardly qualifies something to have a "fast" distinction in its name. The draw cycle on the LL is a huge improvement over the HL, with no abrupt dump into the valley. It's pretty even throughout the entire cycle and lets down very easy. I didn't actually want the 8 extra fps, so was able to back off about 2 turns and keep the same speed as with the HL mods, but at ~65lbs, which makes it even nicer/easier to draw apples-apples.

Could not sleep last night so started thinking about this. The let off location/position increases/decreases DL. So the guys that use the Cap bolt stop or grind the face of Bomar stops are adding both let off and DL (I think). So if I get FL mods, set my DL one letter higher (shortening DL), then grind the face of Bomar stops, would I not get closer to 80% let off and still maintain my existing DL or at least get close to it?

Try the PW lucky stops and you’ll be able to get what you want without grinding anything. You may even get the 80% with you standard stops.

My experience, the actual letoff % with fast mods depends on the bow and DL.Almost on all EC cam bows when I switch to fast letoff mods, i bump the mod position up one letter and set it in the 75% setting. This is to achieve the same DL as the High mods because the Fast mods add 1/4” DL which nets about 4-5fps gain.

The fast letoff mods all draw long at the same letter for draw length. So part of the speed increase is if you are in the c slot on both the fast let off will actually be a longer draw length. So I've had to counteract that by dropping a spot and playing with different stops and such. The hl and ll mods will draw the same length, the fast let off draw long. So then dropping a letter and changing stops means changing holding weight etc. They all serve a good purpose but be prepared for lots of tinkering and fine tuning.
