Scott Focus arrived, quick review

So, UPS dropped off a nice surprise today.

I've been almost absolutely loyal to my Exxus(es) for a couple years now but do shoot hinges from time to time. I decided to try the Focus on a whim.

So, it came today and I of course had to stop everything and set it up and shoot it a bit.

Finish is outstanding. This thing is slick as glass. The stainless adds nice weight to it over the solid aluminum handles. Adjustments are easy as usual and the magnetic hook return is nice though I didn't hate the rubber bands to be honest. So, the nitty gritty.... This thing spins like a top. I added travel to it twice because I was rolling through it so easily. Now, I'm a "relaxer".... Allowing that wrist, hand and fingers to stretch out and my back to take the slack. This doesn't put lots of rotation in releases but it put lots in this one. It is very, very smooth.

I think Scott nailed it with this one. Now, I'm even more excited to try the Anchor.

Here it is compared to one of my Exxus. Very similar geometry. The Focus is about 1/8 longer.

Several asked about comparing it to the Backspin and to the Core.

Basically, the Core is identical to the Exxus, except the index hole, and the outer finger bed. Geometry is identical otherwise, and the Core is heavier due to the stainless extension.

So, focus vs core is the same as above focus vs Exxus.

Comparing the Focus to the Backspin, the Backspin is about 1/8" longer than the Focus fingerbed to hook.

Core over Backspin- not as similar as I thought actually.

It is shorter than the backspin from finger bed to hook. The index finger bed is also slightly thinner than the bearing of the backspin.
Thanks for the pics! Is it me or is the hook on the Focus a tad longer than the backspin? That's probably the biggest complaint against the backspin; the short hook.
Yes, the Focus hook is longer and thinner.

Thanks for the review. Been shooting Longhorns for years an years an love them. I decided to try the HT3 for something different recently an while I really like that release an shoot great with it I still prefer the feel of my shot better with the Longhorns. Been thinking about trying tha Focus an this review may have just made up my mind.

I received a Scott Anchor this week. I also am faithful to my Exxus. I was hoping to get a hinge with the same anchor point and POI, but I did not. The Anchor causes my peep to be much lower. I was hoping to be able to interchange.

How does the finger bed to hook distance compare between the Exxus and Anchor?
