SHIPPING COSTS GONE CRAZY!

I ranted about this last year when Lancaster wanted to charge me a stupid amount of money to ship 50 feathers.... in a BOX! The only thing worse was the people who tried to defend them.
And this..... I was going to order 2 bags of nocks today. 20 little pieces of plastic. They wanted to charge me $12.00 + dollars. By comparison, I just ordered a string from TTT archery. They threw it in a small padded bag and charged me $4.99.
Ya gotta get with it Lancaster. I love you, your service and your products are exemplary but the shipping thing needs to be looked at. - 40n

A company like Lancaster receives special rates from mailing servicers as well, so it should be even less.

That delivery charge for the target is egregious. Large package or not for that price I want it walked across the country by hand and presented to me via trumpets and red carpet. I've shipped hundreds of pounds of meat from Alaska to Wyoming for that same price.

And of course we shouldn't pay the poor employee who has to pull the item from the shelves, box it up, thrw a label on it, and organize it for the several different curriers a place like Lancaster actually uses... We are all happy to get pay raises until the other guy also gets a liveable wage and our prices go up.

It is not just the shipping costs that seem high. Lancaster is close to being a monopoly and hence can charge high prices for everything. For the past couple of years, I have been ordering most of my archery equipment from Alternative. Shipping costs are about the same but with a delay of one or two days. Alternative has some really good quality and inexpensive items. I have been very impressed with Skylon arrows for example. In addition they even beat Lancaster prices for US made equipment. A hundred Easton G nocks is $52 from Alternative and $66 from Lancaster.

And that's the problem, you/we created the monopoly. We all have got used to Internet pricing and all the local archery shops are gone, just like all other local shops.
Walk in ships will come back, but this will just be delayed while you continue to pay high postage. 100% the business is profiteering from the postage though.
Luckily in the UK I still have clickers archery. Great prices and service and you just walk in. If you want it delivered its a fiver.

yes - we already do, that's part of the product price.

if you went into the store you'd pay them to get it off the shelf, and box it up, and ring it up (instead of putting a shipping label on it). you pay for that in the item price.

they can't double dip and say that's part of the shipping costs as well.

Gotta say though, I'm in the UK and I have a trip planned to america at the end of the year and I looked at lancaster's prices out of curiosity to see if the exchange rate would let me bag a bargain. they seemed to have quite a limited range of stuff on their website for an american company that i'd have expected to have access to everything since most bow stuff is US made. then the prices weren't even that great, to be honest. (but maybe that's the exchange rate at play)

As others have pointed out - even american ebay listers can get things to me cheaper than if I were to walk into lancaster. they are even able to undercut some of the UK stores.

no idea how they do it, but ebay might be my new archery supplier if this trend continues.

Actually, in the store you just go home with the product as packaged, or they might give you a bag to put in multiple small items.

When shipping, you need to buy boxes, packing material, labels, printers for those labels, setup and maintain a contract with one or more shipping companies, and pay one or more employees to focus on just finding and pulling products from the warehouse, and get them presorted ready for boxing and shipping.

And what is silly, is the fact that 3rd party shipping (which uses common services) is cheaper by far.... When we ship bows we use Pirate Ship all day every day, and have started to use it for smaller items as well. So can they ship for less, yes they can. Their shipping rates (not just Lancaster) are insane. For me to ship APO (To a military base in Europe) I would still pay less than what is charged here in CONUS!!!

How about this, get out and EARN a livable wage. Do something to better yourself so you’re WORTH a higher wage. Develop a skill that commands a higher pay. But no, working hard and earning things for yourself isn’t the “in” thing right now is it?

Stop with this liveable wage for all garbage. The facts of life are such that you are not worth $20, $25, $35/hr or whatever you think a liveable wage is if all you know how to do is basic, mindless, no skill labor. It’s as idiotic an idea as men are women if they say they are.

You know why things are super expensive and you all who complain about liveable wages for all can now no longer afford a single thing outside your rent and groceries? Cause the guy flipping your burgers for you is making $25/hr, the guy ringing up your grocery bill is making $20/hr, and the guy at Lancaster mindlessly putting your nocks in an envelope is making $25/hr.

Congrats, you and people like you have helped push wages so high that the people making your subs at Jimmy John’s can’t afford to buy and eat the subs they’re making at Jimmy John’s despite being paid “liveable wages” yall pushed for. Just like that guy at Lancaster putting your nocks in an envelope can’t actually afford to buy things from Lancaster himself now.

Listening to and reading what Lefties write is like watching that Dumb and Dumber movie where they pay for their food at the drive up window, then speed off to “rip off” the restaurant while laughing and high fiving each other because they “sure got those guys”.

I had to stop using Lancaster in the end because the shipping was killing me. I mailed a riser from Ontario Canada to a guy in CA, it was $38 Canadian, about $30 US at the time. I went to buy a riser from LAS, $92 US shipping, that’s $120 Cdn, just insane. I got the same riser from Alt for $46 US shipping.

stop paying these high prices, then things might change. some people on ebay are charging over 100 bucks to ship a bow, i simply will not pay that. let it sit there i dont need it that bad. i bought all my aerchery stuff years ago when things were still pretty cheap, and most shipping was low or free. i have everything i need now and thank god, because im not paying these stupid prices

lets be honest,we all think we are worth more money then we really get, from a denist to a joe blow dropping off pizzas. thats just most people. but what happens when you pay some dishwasher in a restaurant 20 bucks an hr, the prices on the menu go up is what happens

If it makes you feel better - it's not an America problem. it's a developed world problem.

same **** is happening all over canada, australia, europe.

Honestly - go to any website discussing those countries, and if you didn't know they were talking about a different country you'd think they were talking about yours.

same problems, different accent.
