Reviving from shoulder surgery, (24 years of pitching) Anyways, I’m looking for the smoothest drawing hunting bow I can find for deer and turkey. I can still pull #60 lbs, so that would be the max at this point.

There are a lot of smooth drawing bows these days. The main thing coming off of a shoulder surgery is just not over bowing yourself. Poundage is still poundage no matter how smooth it is. If it was me I would shoot a faster bow on lower poundage. You can get several different bows at 50-55lbs that will shoot just as fast or faster than a lot of bows on 60-65lbs. The lower poundage bow will always be easier on your shoulder.

The e32 is not the best drawing elite by far. The e35 and synergy are way better. The new ritual is better too. The Bowtech Realm on smooth setting is good. The Mathews Triax is smooth but it’s a little stiff. But the Triax is fast enough to shoot it on lower poundage and still shoot just as hard.

PSE Evolve. Other than my Elite GT500, I've not found a smoother, easier to draw, fast hunting bow. I've also got a bad shoulder from pitching baseball and throwing baseballs/softballs for 35 years. I have my evolve set on 60# and it's a piece of cake. PSE really hit a home run with the Evolve Cams.

Labrum? I've had 7 rt shoulder surgeries. I have always been a Hoyt shooter but their cams are too harsh for me. Mathews have fit the bill for me. I've heard Elite has a smooth draw. My wife shoots the BT Eva Shockey, not sure the equivalent mans bow is but her's a smooth as silk to draw.

Both my Mathews are set at 70lbs & I can draw easy, I can't even get my son's 70lb Hoyt pulled back.

IMO a handheld release is a lot easier on your shoulder than an index finger as well.

There's a very good deal on a nice PSE Vendetta VX 60# for sale right now. Very smooth drawing, solid back wall bow.
And is fast.
I'd buy it but recently bought to other PSE's.
I've had two Rotator cuff and one complete tear bicep surgeries.
Can pull this and other similar cam'ed PSE's at 70#.
I have 1 at 70# and one at 60#.
As mentioned, the Evolve cams stated above are very smooth as well.
Be hard to beat for the $$$ spent.
Good luck with your choice.

I can't believe it almost took 20 posts before someone recommended the synergy. The evolve cam is nice, as is the halon and no cam, but the synergy is without a doubt the smoothest drawing bow I've tried. Bowtech reign on the comfort setting was up there as well.

Edit: I didn't see post 12 mentioned it as well!

Any number of bows will work for you. Speed demons even if you select a low draw weight (even then these bows are fast).

69 years old, release side shoulder overhauled, using a older Pearson TX4 (rated 342+ fps) set to 55 pounds and cranking 283 fps with a 372 gr arrow.

I went with something I knew well after shoulder surgery.

Hoyt Podium with spiral pros, just at a lighter poundage.

Wrong move!

Each shoulder redone and 3verts in back after 50 years of competive shooting. Always shot hoyts. Spent Thowsands on different bows Hoyts, Mathews, Prime, Elite, even tried a Bow Tech. Sold them all lost lot of money.
Bought a PSE CARBON AIR with the EVOLVE cams set at 85% Loving shooting again going to use it for everthing hunting, spots, 3-d, Fita. Bought another one. Hope this helps

I'm going to be in the same boat.. in a way. I am getting shoulder surgery in a little over a week. I'm not allowed to draw a bow back for maybe 2-3 months. I picked up a PSE Premonition and turned it down to 40 pounds to shoot turkey with a mouth tab. I swapped limbs on my Denali so I can pull 40-50lb normally once I get the go ahead. Once I can get used to that, my Perfexion is set to 50-60#, then when I finally feel comfortable with that, I'll swap my original limbs back onto my Denali to go up to 67#. Yep, I'm determined to get back to where I am now if not better after surgery.

Getting a different set of limbs for your current bow (if you have one) might be cheaper than going out and buying a whole other bow.

But, as others have said, the evolve cams are pretty smooth compared to most others that I've shot.
