In my opinion, the sweet spot between price, value and reliability is with Meopta and Kowa.

 

Athlon is great for the money and excellent warranty

 

X2 for Athlon. Angled 15x45 Ares is what I have. Great clarity, compact, and really competitive price.

Vortex no better warranty & prices are reasonable.

 

Athlon warranty is just as good. I used to be a vortex guy, no longer own any glass but athlon. Much better prices and in my opinion better quality glass. If you get the opportunity look through some of it youll likely be impressed for the money

 

Athlon Ares. You definitely want ed glass. I use mine with a hog saddle tripod with a pan head.

 

I have a cheap Celestron. I use it weekly shooting out to 600 yds. It gets the job done. Glass clarity is good. My biggest gripe is as you dial up in magnification the brightness gets very poor. This is an issue if im trying to spot in overcast weather or near dusk.

 

I have good memories of going to astronomy star parties with my grandfather and his Celestron telescopes. Hadn’t put them in the mix but I’ll check em out.

 

I guess I don't get the need to see groups at 100 with binos or a spotter. Aren't you going to go pull your arrows every couple shots anyways?

 

That’s a fair point. I was recently setting a new sight tape and it was pretty handy having a guy with a scope right there letting me know my first arrow was too high. Made me think I might like to have one of my own.

 

Meopta meopro gets high marks from the birders as a good value scope.

 

I've got a spotting scope and don't know what it is, but you don't clear until 50 yards. At 300 yards and more you can pick a leaf of tree....Wife bought at yard sale for $40.00.

 

I have a 20-60 power spotting scope from Cabela's. I have used it for spotting hits from air rifles at 20 yards to hits from a high power center fire rifle out to 500 meters. I have it mounted on a heavy duty engineer tripod.
It worked very well for silhouette because I could stand straight up and look through the scope.
For archery, I would want one with the angled eye piece because you can turn the eye piece to the side and look through it easily. It would be easier with a bow in your hand.

 

Gotta go with Vortex, great company with great products and ever better customer service.

 

Also look into getting an adapter for your phone, well worth the money to be able to view the picture much larger and take videos or pictures.

 

I went a little crazy when I bought mine although it is a awesome combo between binos and a spotter. The downside it is super heavy, you wouldn’t want to pack it very far! I mostly use it in my living room at my cabin to see the elk or the moon
