I am planning to spray paint my arrows to RED

I was told that if I spray paint or puttnig wraps on arrow it will add weight on the arrows. Is it true?

I am willing to give up some weight and shooting cool arrows on the field though

Arrow wraps usually weight-in about 1 grain per inch ( or less )
Paint ( depending on amount of coats ) is about 0.4 per inch .

Either way You choose , this "extra" weight isn't going to affect your arrows enough to change POI anywhere below 40 yards ( give or take ) .

Crest away i'll say  , enjoy and make sure to post a few pics. Good Luck

just my two cents carbon can become brittle from certain type of paints glues etc. there are special sprays to prep carbon for paint but it will add even that much more weight but im not a custom arrow type of guy so the fanciest i go is colors for my fletchings lol

I get my wraps from battledrum on here. His website will direct you to the right wraps or you can just ask him. I like to double wrap mine becauseif i ruin a fletching the wrap peels off of another wrap very nicely and then i can just rewrap and fletch instead of fighting a wrap off. Like this:

When it comes time to refletch, I would think paint would be a royal pain because I dont see how it can help from scratching off where each fletching was.

The wraps I use weigh 7 grains for the full wraps but I only use partial wraps.

There are other ways to get cool looking arrows if thats your objective rather than full wraps or paint. I use just enough wrap so I can see my arrows well in the woods, and use nocks that match.

Paint sucks! Fletching glue usually sticks to paint pretty well, but paint doesn't stick to saft. Most probably you end up having two vaned arrows when on contact paint looses the contact and so goes a vane.
With wraps that is much smaller broblem. At least Bohning wraps have worked great for me.

I'm sorry but paint is much easier to work with than wraps.
Clean the shafts properly and the paint sticks very good and it only takes a couple minutes to refletch 1 vane or feather or all three.
Also easier to get creative with paint if you really want custom arrows instead of just copies of everyone elses arrow.
And as buster said it takes only a few minutes to clean paint off and change colors if you'd like.

I crested for many years. No more unless you do it for yourself. It's lots of work, and when it's time to refletch, you have to go down to the bare shaft and with the carbon arrows that are woven or whatever, you take the chance of softening the shaft using things like acetone to clean them because sometimes it takes a while depending on the paint, so you have to start by cleaning off as much of the paint before you do a final cleaning of the paint from the shaft which generally scratches up the finish on the shaft unless you're careful. Plus shaft prep before painting is a must, and some of the paint and the fletching glue doesn't work too well together either..... Since you can get really great wraps any way you want them and pretty much strip them with a hair dryer. you can guess what I do. I go to a sign shop wherre they make vinyl signs and get the scraps and cut them with a single edge razor blade and make my own wraps for little of nothing and I even have no problem getting Flex Fletch to stick to it every time.
