Each Manufacturer has their Set Repair / Service Policy, no 2 are even similar as to what You Might Get. You can have learn these concerns on Chasing Game Forum and Slaycam Forum. Most will buy and Test a new cam every year and the Threads there provide insight as to what is a decent cam. The issue is that every year the Manufacturer attempts to make what is a decent cam better and tweak them and then that model is no longer worth buying! I have 2 Stealth G42NG decent cams no issues so 2016 Xmas I got 2 more as Gifts, Did not use them for 3 months when I did I had "Flickering" during day time videos but not night time I contact stealth and though a warranty issue they don't sent a "New" one as a Replacement only refurbished Units, you have to get an RA so you can send a cam back and they always want you to know it is the SD Card which has never been the Cause I was Told it could not be any SanDisk but one sold at Walmart and it has to be a Class 10 which SanDisk only makes 2 Models the "Ultra" and the "Extreme" which what their CS Told is not Made and So sent them in after buying a Stealth SD Card and still had the Flickering. The Replacements both had a cut in the Sensor Lens. I Contact them again and they OPt to send out 2 New ones but Still has the same issue and I also had 2 CamLock Boxes and 2 Stealth 32 GB SD Cards. Call them again and they said they were not getting many back for this well of course not Most are "Picture Users" not Video and why they are getting many back but after 4 New Ones they have an Issue. So they made it good but it took 2 months they step up and sent me 2 G45NG, 2 Security Boxes and 2 more Stealth 32 GB Sd Cards. And seen similar with Moultrie 2013 their M-990i a very good Cam the 2014 was Half the Cam program set up different, weak flash poor sensor range name it. Spypoint is out of Canada so why ut takes so long to get one service heard this on one of the 2 Forums and they don't extend your Warranty even though you are without your Cam. Thus Spypoint is not a big seller. As for Bushnell you will find they also make changes and like they were not using all the LED's for the Flash and had a weak flash and image quality varies. This User had must Bushnells and now has none, he buys one each new year and has always found them to not be any better. So again they attempt to make Changes several things most don't realize is no 2 Users of any model or brand have the same settings or use them in the same environment so you cannot take what a few users like and think you will get a "Great" Cam. I have been using Cams when they were 35mm, then Homebrews whiuch don't do Video well if at all and I switched to commercial Black Flash Cams and have tried many Coverts, Stealths, Moultries, a Uway and Brownings. It is sad they think we are not familiar with how to use a Cam. Covert sure has a good Replacement Service but when you get a new cam with the same problem like false triggers or blurry images and you send one back you are without again, Moultrie has similar issues and maybe why they are constantly changing to suggest they have something better. I have had 3 2014 M-1100i all have gone back their high end cam and some gone back twice and all the New Replacements have a new Issue the Transition Images are total Whiteouts when the Orignal 3 never had that Problem. Similar Browning their Dark Ops work but nothing as good as their 2016 Spec Ops works. As for Uway Their VH200HD has issues with extremely grainy night time videos to the point you can barely make out what is moving. And They required the Customer to send a Check for 15.00 when you would send in a cam under Warranty and their policy then was if it was caused by Moisture that was Not Covered under the Warranty. When we use cams outdoors that told me for a 200.00 plus cam each Manufacturer has their Policies which you have to read their Policy to Be Aware and each brand is Different! SO like some mentioned it is HIT & Miss What we get and having to deal with getting an RA and covering Return S&H just adds up to more $ out of our Pocket. So now I never pay anything near what most are selling cams for because just when you think it is a decent cam you get the latest version and it has issues... So Just Be Aware that Game Cameras Are HIT & MISS as to what you get. Some Know this and only buy from a place that has a decent Return Policy and Uses them as soon as they can and find if it does have any ISSUES so you can send it back or return it for a Refund. Cabela's is one some don't have much as a Return Policy so You get Stuck with dealing with a Warranty and are out the S&H and they Suggest you get insurance so if it gets lost you are not out a Cam... Maybe why some use TrailCam Pro because they have a 90- day and offer a 2nd year Warranty to them. Never bought a cam from them. I look for the Best Price I bought 2 BTC-8FHD-P for 113.00 and free S&H most are selling for 169.99 but deals come and god quickly. I am happy with the Video though I don't use the audio again we each have our idea what is a decent cam and when you take what some say is to find out it is not that Good you wonder why I try one...
Sorry for your Trouble with Spypoint but maybe why I have looked but never bought one. Won't buy another Stealth, Covert or Moultrie. The Quality is no longer there and yet I have 2 M-990i and they still work and do all I need but the several others even one has issues same for Coverts... So I would suggest visiting the 2 Game Camera Specific Forums and do some homework on what hard core users find and go from there. Each brand and model have different quality as to what You get you can learn what is decent and then buy one. I would wait till you can put it out where you plan on using it my spot is over 3 hours away and difficult to get there because of seasonal roads in the winter.
GOOD Luck...
