Folks,

Here’s the information on legal Sunday hunting by state. Thanks to all who have responded to my messages.

There are 10 states that do not allow any hunting on Sunday, with all but Virginia and North Carolina being in the Northeast. It seems to me that those of us who live in these unenlightened states can use this information about practices in other states to solicit our own state legislators to change the laws. Good luck to all.

Wonder why majority of those are New England states?
Several of these states have what are called " blue laws " with some going back as far as colonial times prohibiting many activities on Sunday. It wasn't too long ago when retail stores were closed Sunday in some of these states. These " blue laws are slowly being repealed though.

We can finally buy beer on Sunday which is a slow change, maybe we can see some change to the rest of the moronic blue laws initiated decades ago.

Here in Delaware, the state has given 4 doe tags with every lic. designed to lower the population of deer in the state. Wouldn't it make sense to open Sunday hunting since most working folk can only hunt on weekends?

We'll see.

Michigan change

The no Sunday hunting rule has been dropped in all of Michigan.

There were a few counties around Detroit that did not allow hunting on public lands or on lands of another on Sunday..however this has been changed starting this deer season. Oct. 1

I must tell on my state of WV. It's a little embarassing but true.
When the law was passed, it was orginally agreed upon by the law makers that each county would have to vote on it in Nov. of 2001 or 02. But anyway, when the law was written up for the Governor to sign, it was worded wrong and everyone in the state got to hunt on Sundays that year.....

Man, the Farm Bureau in this state went totally bonkers..lol!!!
I kid you not, the wording was wrong. That is the reason it is legal in some counties and not others. The following year each county had a vote.........
