Talk me into Specialty Archery's Pro Press

I was going to make my own press specifically for my bow. Having done stuff like this in the past, I know it's not as cheap a venture as one would think initially, especially if time is factored in. I am really liking that Pro-Press. The X-Press impressed me too but I am not feeling those giant wheels everywhere. At close to grand, I am stuck on the fence.

Cheers and thanks!

I'll save you some money and tell you to look at the Bow-A-Constrictor press. For the same price as the basic Pro-Press, you can get the Bow-a with the Quick draw and tune. Here's a great thread with a lot of good pics of it. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2199856

Let me recommend you go to www.nitehawkarchery.com and look at our press. It presses all bow and even crossbows.

It is the safest press you can own.

1. It clamps to the limbs and becomes an extension of your bows limbs.
2. It presses down the center of the limbs so both sides of the limb is pressed equally. If you press from the side the inside 1/2 of the limb is presses further.
3. You press at the tips of the limbs.
4. You can adjust the press for both narrow and wide limbs.
5. You have infinite control of the pressing process using the turnbuckle. This is extremely important when releasing the press.
6. You will never have to buy adapters or fingers. It comes complete
7. You can change cams while the bow is in the press because the limbs are pressed equally.

Take a look at this video.

The specialty archery press is fairly pricey... but it is an awesome press. If you get the whole package (Press, pro-draw, scale, stand, serving jig and trays) they do offer you 5% off. They also have dealer pricing if that's your case (and you have a taxID to go with it).
The Bow-a is also a solid option as Huntinsker mentioned. Not cheap by any stretch... but slightly less expensive than the SA press. It has all the same capability of the SA press (except for the string jig pieces).
I do prefer the Pro-draw on the SA press to the QD&T of the Bow-a... and that's because it's a mechanical feature with more control over the draw than the pulley system. But both will do the job.

Both are an excellent option... and will fall into the category of "buy right, buy once".

Appreciate the thoughts!

I am only interested in a "proper" press. That Bow-A is neat and it has the right mechanics or 'press method' for me, so it definitely qualifies. It's just not that much less than the Pro-Press, which in my opinion, has a much more refined execution and offers a slightly more elegant approach. I might concede that those points (or what appeals to me about the "pro") are more biased toward cosmetics, but it is a factor that the minimal price delta doesn't permit me to overlook. At this point, I would need a viable substitute for a lot less cash than the "Pro" or to identify a fault in the in it. Anbyone know what the dealer pricing is?

Thanks again!

I completely agree.
No idea on the dealer pricing. It didn't apply to me, so I didn't investigate any further. You can contact the General Manager at manderson@specialtyarch.com. He will answer any questions you have. He's pretty good at getting back to you within a day, if not the same day.

I will shoot the GM an email.

Got a price from the pro shop for the press and the pro draw of 1375.00. Really like that you can check timing and make adjustments without removing the bow. Have not seen that on any other press. Be nice to find a few guys that wanted one to see if they would give a discount.
