I did it once with an extension cord and a lamp. The much simpler thing to do is secure a flash light somewhere to shine on your target and if possible buy a light for your sight. The only issue with shooting at night is misquito's.
 
I am in the process of building a target shed right now at the back of my property. It will house the targets to keep them out of the weather and sun, act as a back stop and it will have lights for night shooting. Last night I finished putting together a 16' tripod stand in the opposite corner of the back yard from the target shed for up to 50 yard shots. I hope to finish everything this weekend.
