Hi everybody,

This is my first post, and I hope some fellow archer might give me a hand finding out a specs issue I have with my bow. Althought I have been shooting for a year, I was always using one of the club's bows. Finally, I recently bought a 25" WNS Elite alpha riser, together with some Kinetic Avantage fiber foam limbs (all in all, for a 68" bow). I do not manage to find the tiller for this riser anywhere :-/. In the riser documentation the only note is that, for 25" riser with medium limbs, the brace height should be between 21.5 and 24.5 cm, but nothing else.

Is there anybody around, able to provide some numerical specifications for a similar set? Thanks in advance!

Yes WNS doesnt give any recomendation. Alot of guidlines suggest to start with 2-6mm, 1/16" - 1/4" greater on the top limb using split finger hook. If you stringwalking or using 2-3 fingers under hook you may need to add even more on the top limb "unscrew" the tillerbolt.
But pay attention to that you also lower the lbs of the bow to small degree also. Dont leave the tillerbolts with to few threads to hang onto. 7-11 turns on WNS risers.

11 full turns to bottom out the tillerbolt on my FC-100 riser. So i use 2/3 total turns as minim thread for 36lbs limbs. So between 7 turns (minimum) - 11 (maximum) number of turns of the tillerbolt you can play with.

But try get hold of a coach and help you out with a full recurve bow tuning. Tiller is just a small fraction of all steps to complete a full bowtune.

Sorry to butt in, but this is actually incorrect. The positive tiller is required when using the split finger mediterranean draw because the point of draw is higher than the midpoint of the bow. String walking brings this towards the center and sometimes lower than the midpoint of the bow. Thus, when string walking, you'll want less tiller (neutral or negative tiller). Thus you'll want to either 1) tighten the top tiller bolt or 2) loosen the bottom tiller bolt.

I might be a bit late on this one, but I have the wns forged elite. For reference, my brace height is 9and1/8". My top tiller is about 7and3/8" and my bottom tiller is 7and1/4". Thats my setting with wns elite foam limbs but of course yours will differ. But your settings shouldn't be any much farther then what I have currently.

Hi. I'm new here and new to archery as well, I've only been at it for around 5 months so my opinion may be worthless. Anyway, about a month ago, I bought a Motive FX 25" Riser paired with 40 lb. Winex limbs, 68' AMO as well. 8.75" (22.2 cm) brace height seemed the best for me (most quite), tiller was set to 6.81" (17.3 cm) up top and 6.69" (17.0 cm) at the bottom. I was advised not to go over 4 mm difference by the coaches at the Club. I switched to stringwalking and have now set both top and bottom to 7.0" (17.78 cm) retaining brace height at 8.75" (22.2 cm). Seems to be working well so far.

Regarding the number of full turns you can do to the tiller bolts, the manual states never to go over two complete turns or catastrophic failure may occur. Since I got the riser with tiller set to center, as stated in the manual, is that two rotations tight AND two rotations loose for a total of 4 rotations total? Sorry for asking this question in your thread.
