Anyone use the 2014 moultrie m880? How is it and compared to the 2013?

Trailcampro is doing reviews of all the 2014 Moultries.....The only one that is complete is the review of the M880.....It is not as good as the 2013 model when it comes to pictures and flash range....Check out the Browning line of cameras......

I don't own any of the 2014 Moultrie's, but based off the trail camera forums I'm a member of. They have all taken a step back in sensing which is a huge disadvantage. Most are only sensing out to 30' and that isn't very far or reliable. The pictures I have seen posted from them have seemed to be out of focus. Almost everyone I know that bought one sent them back to Moultrie for a refund for a 2013 model. So far their requests have been made. I like Moultrie cameras, but 2014 doesn't seem to be there year so far.

I SENT IN A 2013 VERSION, AND THEY SENT ME BACK A 2014 VERSION, LIKED THE OPTIONS AND SETTINGS, BUT i TRIED IT AROUND MY HOME DAYTIME PICS R GREAT, BUT MY NIGHT PICS ARE NOT SO GOOD, I SET IT ON A TRIGGER OF 3, THE 1ST PIC IS REALLY GOOD AND CLEAR, THE 2ND IS REALLY GRAINY, THE 3RD IS BLACK, IT DID THIS EVERYTIME IT WENT OFF AT NIGHT, I HAVE TO CALL MOULTRIE ON HOW TO DO A HARD SHUT DOWN, THAT WORKED ON PRIOR MOULTRIES AND IT WORKED OUT WELL

I bought the new one this spring, first time I had it out it took amazing pictures. about a month later, I am having issues with it only working for about 5 hours after I leave it out and then it dying. I put new batteries in it, new SD card, everything and it did the same thing. Just to make sure, I put another camera facing the same spot and sure enough, I had deer on that camera and no pictures after 5pm on the M880. Absolutely loved it the first month, I'm not sure what happened but I am trying to send mine in to get another one. Anyone know about the warranties? I emailed Moultrie two days ago about what is going on with my camera but still no response

I bought one from Bass Pro at the beginning of April this year. not sure if it's a left over 2013 model or the newer 2014 model. I haven't had any problems with it. pictures day and night are 10x better than my Bushnell's and I don't have no where near the amount of blank photo's (photo's of nothing but trees/weeds/shrubs) as I do with the Bushnell's. my only complaint is the initial set up and menu navigation is kind of a pain in the arse compared to their previous models. the flash has been excellent as well as the sensor range and picture quality.

to tell you the truth, I can't remember if it's camo or not. I have it in a metal box on a tree right now. I don't believe it is camo though.

There was several different M-990i's Some were made for Cabela's M-990c-i there also a M-990Gi for Gander Mountain and maybe a M-990w-i Walmart version I think I know of the Cabela and Gander Mountain Versions. So again there was other versions of the M-990i. I have a 2013 M-990i and a M-880. The first M-990i had dark pictures nothing like the M-880 I contacted the retailer and they sent out a replacement and sent me a call tag to return the one that did not work properly. I got a second one once I got the replacement out in the field and saw the videos I was getting. I was looking at buying the 2014 M-1100i but after hearing the reports from others that had 2013 and wanted more bought 2014 M-990i and was not satisfied with the 2014 model. The game camera does not go as marketed as to the PIR sensing the 50 ft, heard battery tray popping out when you open the camera, Pictures aren't as good as the 2013 version, and the transition from day to night and night to day is poor and get some very poor picture during this. Maybe because they only have one sensor instead what appears the 2013 had with three I think it had. Since the M-1100i was delayed a little and now others are like I waiting to see what others get with one but so far it is not looking promising maybe they think changes are the only way they will be able to get more customers or maybe just a marketing scheme to suggest the new camo is better than they had in 2013. I bet if they would go back and offer the 2013 version of the M-990i they would be selling many of them but again disappointing. Will wait till game camera season kicks in to high gear later on and hope they realize they took a step backwards but I doubt they will and go back to the 2013 version I would buy another one but since they won't go back to a good product because they have invested in the 2014 so going back would show they have no idea what they have done just getting a lot of 2014's back from customers...

Will be a wait and see if they learn and fix or go back to a good game camera the 2013 M-990i...

Also talk is they removed the light sensor so they have opt to let the day to night and night to day during transition is not very good because it can't know when it is switching. Also they are saying the set up programing is very different from the 2013 models. And that some seem to compare both and the 2014 don't sense the distance it is marketed as it can and the same for the flash range. I really like my 2013 M-990i and M-880 have not had any issues with them so far besides one only taking Black & White Pictures day and night but when I let the retailer know they sent out a new one and provided a call tag so not out of pocket costs to me not like most others or game camera CS that you pay for returning a game camera for a replacement or a repair. I was looking at a 2014 M-1100i but because of the experiences others have had with all the 2014 being a lesser camera than the 2013's so far in 2014 I have not bought any game cameras. I cannot seem to find many of the ones others are talking as good 2014 that you can turn off the audio like the Browning's and or the Stealth G42. I been looking at a Uway VH400HD but there is very little information on it good or bad, just the basic stuff but very few have one so it is hard to get any info on it. I like my 2013 M-990i and M-880 but I guess when they make changes they just think they are good changes and when they aren't. SO it is hard to spend hard earn money and get something less than what you had like the 2013 models...

I had a 2013 M880. Did a good job. First thing that stood out to me was that the battery life wasn't up to par with my Bushnell Trophycam HD. M880 ate 2.5 sets of batteries in a 6 month span. Pics day/night were great. Unfortunately I didn't get it out of the woods in time before the weather dipped below 0 in January. Killed the cam, luckily bass pro has a good return policy!

No matter what I do with my M880 whenever I go back to get the card it says "card error"! Tried multiple cards(all of which work in my A5) and I just get card error...maddening because I've missed out on tons of pictures, taking this thing back.

Again Quality sounds like, I have several Moultries left out last winter 1 M-880 and 2 M-990i and they were out from December to April on the same batteries and on video and they never had any issue and the extreme cold did not have any affect on any of them. But I only use e-lithiums batteries and they last for almost a year in all my game cameras 3 Moultrie and 6 Homebrews and the Moultrie's are all used for Videos. No issues but all Moultrie's are 2013. Again could be just a bad one being electronics you never know. I have had decent luck with these 3 I have had they are out year round as they have since I got them back in mid 2013.
