For a few years now i been wearing the hss ultra-lite. I wear a sala exofit everyday at work so using the ultra-lite when I hunt is like wearing pajamas for bed. Unfortunately last night the waist strap made a very loud crackle due to some type of plastic on the inside that ultimately costed me a shot opportunity. Up until now I haven't had any complaints but since that happened I'm looking to get a new harness. The summit harness looks nice from photos I've seen online i haven't had my hands on one to truly tell if Ill like it. I'm looking for some feedback on what harnesses some of you guys use as im sure there's some out there i don't even know about. Thanks in advance

I used the Gorilla harnesses for years but they're no longer made. I had to get a new one this year myself. I predominantly saddle hunt now but have hunted twice from a climber this year. I went with the XOP Mondo. It's a hybrid saddle/harness that's not the best saddle but it's a very comfortable and quiet harness. What I like is the saddle portion is very comfortable compared to a traditional harness if you found yourself hanging from a tree. Much less stress on the upper, inner legs.

Oh good heavens......you mentioned RC's on an AT harnesses discussion. Hopefully the tree hunting vigilantees don't catch wind of it and repeatedly tell you how lucky you are that you haven't tipped upside down and fallen out of it to your great harm or death. (I've used RC and similar harnesses for over 25 years with very good success and comfor as well.)

HSS Pro Series, like the added Pockets it offers to carry stuff to the Stand.
There is a limited number of years a Harness can be used. Also they recommend checking your Harness before each use to find anything that could be damaged Just like a Work / Job Safety Harness.

Have used a muddy ambush, never really notice it when it’s on. Does have some metal components that can clink if were it really loose. Mine Saved me on a fall last year from a hang on. worked well enough i bought another one. Not the cheapest harness, but when it comes to safety stuff, I would rather spend extra.
However much more I spend, it will still be far cheaper than a hospital bill

I've had the summit harness for about 4 years now and like it a lot but also just got into saddle hunting so it hasn't been used this year but would deffintly recommend it never had an issue with it costing me a deer but I do check it over and go over anything that could potentially make noise before I get situated in the stand

I have an older Summit harness. It's quiet and excellent. I haven't actually had my hands on one of the newer models either, but I can't imagine that they'd disappoint you. Check out user reviews on Amazon etc.

I have both a Muddy harness and an HHS Ultralite. I keep one in each truck I hunt out of. I do like the HHS better, due to the buckles. I wear mine under a hoodie and barely know its there. No dangling leg straps like on my Muddy harness. I do prefer the Muddy quick connect straps and lineman's ropes w/carabiners.

Stick with the full body harness and couple it with a descent device. For treestand hunting there’s a gold standard, there’s nothing and there’s some in between choices when it comes to first safely surviving a fall and then being able to self rescue. I’m going with the gold standard. Research it and choose wisely as your life could depend on it.
