Hello. TRU Ball and Lancaster Archery just dropped an updated Executive hinge on Instagram.

Interestingly enough, they added two things that should have been on the original and many people (myself included) complained about.

The new version has Flex fingers (comes with the 3-finger and you have to buy the 4-finger separately), a magnet under the hook to hold it in the ready position, and a lanyard attachment point.

It also comes in small, medium and large this time. I'll be interested to see how they handle the sizing between them. TRU Ball can be dodgy about that on some of their models.

The medium is available on Lancaster's website, and I ordered one. I'll drop a video review on my channel (AJB Holsters) when I get it.

This might end up being a really good one.

I’m glad the original didn’t have the flex fingers… I knew it was coming soon and I’m glad I bought a 2nd one before the Flex dropped.

The magnet head…. Ok it’s fine. But I don’t care if I have it or not. Been shooting a hinge so long it’s not worth thinking about hunting or target shooting for me.

Lanyard attachment… cool I guess but I don’t care. None of my other releases have it so it’s not a biggie.

I am happy they made these changes. The FLEX and the magnet are the two things I wanted over my original I still own. I feel the original has more of a sweep that resembles the HT and I prefer the straightness of my HBC's and more of a hook on the end.

I will say and still stand by this statement that NONE of the other two moon systems that are out there compare to the Executive. I set mine out of the box and have not touched it since! Rock solid! I can't say that for the well over a dozen UV H2's I have owned, returned, owned, returned....and still own and STILL adjusting the ever changing moons.

Great review as always!

Other than the adjustable neck and flex attachment how does the moons and their travel and click adjustments compare to the Scott Ascent?

I've found that I like a very short click in my hinges. The problem with the UV2 was it felt I couldn't get the click short enough without the click turning off completely. I've been testing out a friend's HBC and like it a lot, so just ordered an HBC flex. How would you say the overall feel of the Executive Flex compares to the HBC. Sorry if you discussed this in the video, I plan to watch it later.

The HBC Flex and Executive Flex have a very similar handle shape (they match if you lay them on top of each other). The HBC is a little thinner and has a more aggressive taper, and doesn't have any checkering on the finger beds of the release body.

The Flex fingers have texturing on them, and the Executive Flex's middle finger bed has the same texture. The Flex fingers for the HBC are tapered (which is exclusive to that model), and the Executive's are straight.

Executing the shot feels similar between them, but the Executive feels pretty effortless to shoot because of the angle of the head. The HBC is close, but takes a little more movement for me.

Thank you for watching. There's not a lot of info out on them yet, so I tried to put a video together as fast as I could after I received mine. Looks like I beat TRU Ball and LAS to it on YouTube 😁.

I think it's a winner, but the Ascent is a fine piece of kit in and of itself.

I just got a second camera, so I'll try to get some more footage at the range using it.

I use a Large Stan OnneX. I can fit into a medium but the large still feels "fitted".

For TRU Ball, the small sits between medium and large Onnex, their medium equates to a size between the large and XL, and the large is between the XL and XXL. I have printouts on my website available for download if you want to see them IRL.

The index and middle fingers are fine on the Executive Medium for me, but the area that makes all the difference with TRU Ball is the Flex fingers. The Larges and Mediums use the same size Flex fingers, and the 3-finger is oversized slightly. The 4-Finger feels well-sized for a medium release, but as a 3-Finger, the ring finger feels too big.

On the Small they use the pinky finger piece from the 4-Finger as the 3-Finger hook, so it actually feels "fitted".

Stan does it right by having each size have it's own corresponding finger attachments. It's gotta be rough machining all those parts, but it really makes a big difference in the fitment.

I've had the executive for a couple month now and I really like it. My only complaint is the thumb peg. It feels really thin and weak. I've noticed it's started to bend a bit from constant use. The other thing with the peg is that it always seems to want to unscrew itself as I'm drawing, which is really annoying. I wonder if they're going to come out with any other type of peg that would fit it and feel better. I really like this release otherwise.
