Utah License for draw

Quick question... Do you need an active hunting license to successfully DRAW a tag in Utah? My understanding is yes, but when you do, you must buy one to hunt. I ask because Utah emailed me that I need to buy one yesterday.

Since it’s a 365 day license obviously you can apply for a hunt for two seasons. This is what I have been doing now for years but I have never drawn without a license.

Thanks guys!

This is correct. You have to have a valid hunting license to apply for the draw. So, essentially yes you do need a license to draw a permit...kind of.

If your license expires after the application period you can still draw and hunt...doesn't make much sense to me other than they want the extra $. If it were truly important to have a valid license to hunt, they'd make that the case.
