Has anyone else watched this show? I have only caught a few minutes of it a few different times. It follows game wardens in Montana. I have mixed feelings about the show. I like that they go after poachers and other people breaking game laws, but it also seems like entrapment the way they go about it. For example, they set out some whitetail buck and bull elk decoys at night and then hid in the bushes trying to catch people shooting at them. Just curious if others have seen the show and your take on it?

At the fire base the local co's store their equipment in one of the barns. They have a half dozen poacher decoys there some of them even motorized. They are some rough looking deer, they are pretty much bad taxidermy that has been transported all over. They look so bad I wouldn't even use them as deer decoys if I could. Like the CO's all say all you need is a big rack and that is all the shooter focuses on. I am amazed of the night shooters they arrest about 80% are over the limit BAL so they usually get a DUI to go with the game violation.

watch it all the time, i like they catch the hardcore poachers but these wardens are complete jerks. they are way to agressive and im not sure i would tolerate that around here.
I seen a episode when they pulled a vehicle over just because he thought it looked suspicious in a known poaching area(isnt that illegal to do? wheres the intent or probable cause?)Ask the driver ,can you beat me?(fighting wise?)driver doesnt answer!Next question was "you think you can outrun me?(driver says no?)Then proceeds to tell to just keep your mouth shut unless you want to go to the dirt?Comprendea! Now i know the drivers and passengers were spanish nationalitiy but that is uncalled for.At the end of detaining them for like 2hrs they let them go with nothing they done wrong.
They are totally disrespectful to law biding citizens on their show and to me thats not how a Warden should act towards public.
However i do not live in Montana and the laws and interactions might be more stringent ?
Who knows?but i still watch it when it comes on!

I have no problems with them setting up fake deer, moose or whatever

I do have a problem when a warden/officer/CO goes out and ruins someones hunt with no suspicion they are breaking the law. Wait at the truck for them or wait till they start coming in, but to sneak up or walk in on their duck/goose set up, or night coyote hunt or deer hunt that is totally wrong and should be subject to our 4th amendment.

It is illegal for a police officer to pull you over for no reason at all, so why is it legal for a DNR/CO to ruin your hunt because he saw you out hunting

How would you suggest they catch someone hunting over bait, hunting with an illegal weapon, not wearing orange, over bagging etc. only a fool would not be legal at the truck

But it is against our Constitutional right to be searched without probable cause, and I feel when they see someone goose hunting in a field they should have the courtesy and respect for that hunters rights to wait till they are done hunting or check them before hunting or watch and if they see them committing an infraction, they approach.

I don't think they are jerks, but they are breaking your 4th amendment right against undue search. And sorry I feel that way, but how would you like to pay for you and your family to see a movie, but when the good part came the theater attendant came in and pulled you out from the theater to check your ticket ? wouldn't be fair would it ?

Or how about your sitting on stand, then that buck you've been after is coming your way, suddenly it snaps its head up, snorts and runs off. Next you see the local CO/DNR officer coming out to check your license. Mad or happy ?

I have NO problems with any DNR officer checking me or my license, I do have a problem if they do it in the middle of my hunt.

I think they have a thankless job, however I disagree with checking someone in the middle of their hunt. now if someone called on you , said your trespassing or poaching, well then I can understand, they have probable cause, but not without it.

I've watched quite a few episodes. I had hoped to see wardens/conservation officers from other states on there as well. Seeing them from Montana is still fun to watch but just wanted to see a variety that's all.

If they arent wearing orange, if they see them thats obviously probable cause. If they have an illegal weapon, they have to get it back to the truck. If they overbag, they also have to get it to the truck. They use spotting scopes a lot. I dont care if theyre watching me from a distance, but if they came strolling through the woods looking for hunters, i would be pretty pissed too.

I'm glad CO's do the decoy gig, I love it when some idjut gets nailed road hunting/poaching....I mean, think about it....Joe Yahoo comes driving the road looking to road shoot/poach a deer....stops and shoots out the window a high powered rifle(crossbow or .22)( maybe onto YOUR property?)......I would love to see the vehicle impounded, rifle/weapon taken, big fine and jail time for the poacher...
