wow!

I ran into one like Tevis on a bear hunt two years ago, only my oldest son didn't find the outfitter scary. There's going to be more and more of these in the future. Makes a guy a little punchy when trying to find a hunt.
Greed is an ugly color.

I hear way more negative than positive when it comes to outfitters for Whitetails.

That's because bad news/reviews travel faster and further than good news/reviews. People are quicker to go online and complain about something than they are to compliment something.

That said, this is not the first negative review I've heard about Whitetail Heaven and the ones I have seen are all of a similar nature.

The beginning of the end was when they started hosting the TV scumbags leaches. They do a few shows giving the TV guys choice farms make-the show to pump up their business while joe hunter pays the bills. Stay very far away.

While I believe the writing is on the wall for Whitetail Heaven, I do find it laughable that you think the "TV scumbag leaches" were the catalyst. Seems there are plenty of outfitters in the country that play host to TV hunting shows and yet the "beginning of the end" hasn't come about for them. Contrary to popular belief, not every TV hunting show that uses an outfitter gets free hunts. Sure, the big name/established shows get hunts in exchange for free advertising for the outfitter(s) but it's not quite as prevalent as you think. If every hunting show got free hunts from outfitters, no one would ever be able to book a hunt with those outfitters because the hunting shows would have them booked all season long every year. I get the anti-hunting show sentiment exists but the thought that they get all of their gear and hunts for free simply isn't true.

Not surprised at all at what you think considering you seem to jump on the TV bandwagon whenever you can.

While I recognize your comment as a snide personal one, it doesn't refute anything about my post.

You can call it a "bandwagon" if you want but the FACT is there are respectable hunters and there are unrespectable hunters. Not all of us are respectable and not all of us are unrespectable so we wouldn't lump all of us into one category or the other. Well, same goes for hunting shows because, after all, they're hunters just like us. Only difference is they do it in front of a TV camera for a living.

While they may be respectable and pillars of their community, most of the stuff on TV is comparable to WWE Wrestling as far as reality goes.

While one's perspective and point of view determines how they interpret "most of the stuff" and "reality," I do concede, as I already have, there are undesirables in all walks of life. I've never said or defended all hunting shows as "pillars of their community." All I've ever said was they can't be lumped into one pile (just like people in all walks of life) and that I personally know some of them to not be anything like some perceive them to be. Personally, if anyone watches something intended to be entertainment and then questions its "reality," that person might want to either get out a little more or lighten up. the vast majority of hunting shows, just like professional wrestling, are meant to be a form of entertainment. Yes, there are a few out there that still lean heavily towards educating/informing but the majority are simply looking to entertain their viewers.

"Outfitters"... Nothing more needs to be said.
Actually, I'd appreciate some elaboration. Is "outfitter" now some sort of negative moniker? If it is, why?

I'm from New Orleans where the trophy buck potential is particularly limited, so I have enjoyed many "outfitted" hunts over the years in addition to clubs I've belonged to.

It has been my experience that there are far fewer good ones than not-so-good ones, as far as interest in your having a good time and effort expended. I research like crazy and look for negative reviews as much as positive ones.

That said, my 2 favorites also host some TV shows and those crews always seemed to score. I recognize that as part of their arrangement and deal with it, as I have been successful, too, even as a single hunter paying a single hunter's price. I have no idea if the TV crews paid for those hunts or not and don't care.

I can tell you that I mentioned not having killed a buck in a few years at one of my places and the head guide took me to set he placed for a well-known show that was coming the next week. I killed an 18" wide 8 pt about 15 minutes into the hunt. Free range, but it was a beauty of a spot.

Yeah but LA more than makes up for it with the fishing. That area is on my bucket list as far as fishing trips.

The fishing is as good as you've always heard. Make a plan for the Spring and PM me. We have camps and boats for whatever and the best food you'll ever eat.

Good to know! I appreciate the heads and I promise to take you up on that when the time comes. Thanks!

Sounds like Tevis needs a good ol fashioned ass whoopin for breakfast!

Just got back from WTO. I would consider this operation a scam. About as disorganized as i could imagine. The hunting pressure they put on the land is ridiculous. i was on a rifle and hunt and four of us hunted the same creek. We were about 200 yards from each other. They had me hunting over corn - and the corn had fermented. I could not place the smell in the morning until the sun came up and i figured it out. My buddy was placed in a box blind. Trouble was, an animal had died in it and the smell of death and the thousand flies kept him out of it. An ATV drove next to my stand 7 times the first day. I texted my guide (generous word for what they did) each time they came by. never got a response. He told me his phone broke. One of our group's stands backed up to a house. The house was throwing a party and a person peed 5 yards behind the tree he was sitting in. IMO, WHO probably started off doing good things but have become way to big to provide quality hunting for each of their hunters. One thing they are great at is social media. Reading what is out there, you would think they walk on water. Trust me, they don't.

Their operations stand in stark contrast to Tadd Ladd with whom i hunted several years ago. If you are looking for a Kentucky operation, i would contact him.
