Beaver Balls on trad bows
Monkey Tails/Apex : easy install, min.speed loss
Jax : do the job but hard install/wear replace
Leeches : durable, quiet, robust, min. Speed loss
Whiskers are old school cool, quiet the shot but rob speed.
I like the whiskers but the tails and apex are so easy to install/replace.
Sims leeches are probably best all around in my opinion.

I use cat whiskers. However, I got the best compliments from other shooters when I put beaver balls on my compound. I had been wanting to try it and saw another AT user using beaver balls. That gave me the motivation to follow through.

Lately, I like these:

Hi,

so what would say are some closer numbers... say

using a couple monkey tails. then ...

speed nocks vs no speed. what are some real fps, gained

or lost.

i don't put anything on my string. except my arrow. :)

When you post numbers like that, someone is going to believe them.

According to some tests, with some bows, speed nocks actually increase fps, when properly placed. I'm sure string silencers reduce fps, somewhat, depending on weights and placement, but probably around 5-10 fps.

I removed the 14 ounces of rubber doohickies that came with my bow and use catwhiskers. They outlast the string. Also I skip the speednocks and put the catwhisker in the center of where they were. I don't use a chrono so have experienced no loss in speed- ha!

The Pine Ridge Wishbone have been very robust for me. I'm not certain how much difference they make on these newer bows, but they are built to last.

On traditional bows I like to use wool yarn balls, and on selfbows like the look and function of muskrat or beaver balls.
