Remember that you are not completely eliminating your scent, but trying to reduce your scent footprint so that the deer think you are further away than you actually are. I use Scentlok even when hanging stands. It works, but it is not a panacea, first and foremost I choose where to hunt based on the wind, not because of clothing. I choose to wear it in hopes I am less detected on my approaches and exits, also done with wind mind, and while on stand. I also hope it helps when deer come in from a downwind side. As for your situation, are the deer on alert already for some other reason? Movement? Scent left on the ground where you might be crossing deer trails, which I try to avoid? What about your own physiology? Smoker? I quit using all scented deodorant, lotions shampoos a month before season to flush the smells out. Do you urinate from your stand? Yes, urine eventually breaks down and doesn't bother deer, but I carry a urinal bag and bag it while on stand, deer come in and all of a sudden a foreign urine smell is there, may put them on alert, drink coffee prior to hunt? Urine can smell like coffee until it breaks down. Do other people hunt where you do and do nothing, which could put them on alert, then if they get a small whiff of you, which wouldn't bother them otherwise but they get big whiffs from other hunters. I too like ScentLok for the quality, warmth, and have multiple sets for wind, rain etc and if I get even a small edge due to the science of carbon (being a RN I understand the science of smelling, smells and odors and how to eliminate them ). Wind swirls and even if there is no detectable wind there are thermals moving air so of course deer may wind you despite all your best efforts. I do not rely on ScentLok to help me kill more deer, I rely on basic woodman ship, knowledge and a bit of luck. Bagged my 3rd doe today, went in to the downwind side of one of my food plots, way early and a route that actually sucks, but it is better than a straight shot easy route for wind, noise and visual. Re-evaluate and remember many times we want to blame our equipment (I don't blame my Rages when I don't put it where it does the most damage), oh how do you store your gear? I have a ScentLok Ozone chamber that I use only to refresh, I store in a ScentLok air tight bag and some of the Hefty vacuum cleaner bags that you pull the air out. I also use a Ozone generator while on stand, again I don't rely on it but looking for every advantage. Beat the nose, beat the deer.
