Who/What is Obsession Archery?

OK, seems like Obsession is a pretty big name in archery now? I have been shooting about 7 different Mathews bows over the last 7 years. Had one Darton, and one Bowtech I used to shoot Oneida.
Anyway, I been seeing some comparisons between mathews no cam and the hoyt Nitrum. This has gotten me interested. Much of the research I have been doing for hoyt keeps turning up Obsession. The first I heard of them was this season of my archery league the top 2 shooters came in shooting them. Wasn't to in interested then, but my curiosity has definitely been aroused.
Can't find any history on where this company came from. I am sure there is something here on AT.com, but I haven't been able to find it.
Is this just a lot of hype over the latest and greatest company that will peter out?
Any info or links some one might be able to provide would be appreciated.
There is a close dealer to me. Gonna have to go try them out. Don't like the local Hoyt dealer, so I am gonna have to travel to try that one.

Look up their web site , they have a about us on there.

They are based in Georgia , I think they have been producing bow since 2011. Everyone likes something different , but I think the bows are incredible. Another thing I like is their customer service. I called with a simple question about a month ago, no one answered the phone . About 1o minutes later the owner called me back , said he saw where he had missed a call. He answered my question then questioned me for about 10 more minutes on what I though about the bow. I had sent a email when they didn't answer with the original question . He replied to that about 7pm that same evening , and told me thanks again for the support.
That plus awesome shooting quiet , vibe free , fast bows is hard to beat in my opinion.
Now for the bad
Their lead times on getting bows out is longer than it should be , you will be much happier to find one from a dealer on here . The IBO numbers are stretched to the max in my opinion , they are reachable but not always easily attainable , but still plenty fast.

The way they shoot and feel and the CS at least for me for me far out weighs the negatives. They apparently also just got some major $ backing from another group to do more work in house and cut back on the lead times , hopefully .

Great bows, I made the switch from Carbon spyder and haven't looked back. Very very smooth!
And like every company out there, order a custom bow(they have no up charge) and you're gonna have a wait time. In the end, it's worth the wait!

I've been impressed with their products since their first bow, the SS, came out in '11. Paired with the fact I can call up Dennis any time of the day and have a chat, they really are a stand-up company. I was able to meet Dennis at the ATA show this past January, and he remembered me from our conversations. Have they had growing pains, yes, but they do a heck of a good job with their products and keeping their customers happy. Just my two cents!

The company is owned by Dennis and Angela Lewis. They have been around bows and guns for a long time. They have been in business for a lot of years with scents under the banner Whitetail Obsession Scents. They naturally transitioned into the Bow market and really have exploded onto the scene in the last two years with impressive ATA Shows. The wait times have grown but it is due to demand and the fact that they offer more colors/schemes at regular cost instead of the custom "up" charge. The customer service is excellent and it's no longer a "fan base" but a dedicated following due to the Superior design (Kevin Strothers) and performance of the bows.

I started with mathews, then PSE, Bowtech and now have two Obsessions. I doubt I'll be shooting anything other than Obsessions from now on. Couple of reasons there made right here in Georgia and I met a gentleman named Jeff Dixon that is genius when is comes to setting up and tuning Obsession Bows . They say you can't have speed and a smooth draw, well Obsession must be an exception to that rule.

Kevin Strothers? What does he have to do with Obsession Archery? Thought he left some other company to form Strothers Archery? I may easily be mistaken. His name seems to come up in Obsession discussion. Strothers still making bows? Does Kevin design bows for Obsession?

Went to my local shop today. Very limited selection of Obsession bows. 2 to be exact. Maybe 30 or 40 Bowtech, and a handful of PSE. The guy at the shop didn't seem to interested in selling me anything. More interested in talking to a couple guys at the counter about nothing I guess. Didn't make me want to try it just then. Couple guys on my league shoot them. Maybe I will try theirs.
Saw some of jeff dixon's youtube videos. May have to contact him about picking one up with his custom touch on it.
Customer service should kick a** when someone is coming in to drop $1000 on a bow. And I buy at least one bow a year for the last 7 years.

The three names for that special touch in Ga is as you mentioned Jeff Dixon. Also Derik Still Passinthrough and Jim Rhodes (Dublin GA). I don't know Jeff but I am comfortable with saying he's good. Derik and Jim I know pretty well and again you can't go wrong with these guys either. If your looking to get every FPS out of a bow and every ounce or performance then pick any one of these three.

I'm not familiar with Mr. Rhodes, but I have heard nothing but goods things about passinthrough Derek Still he has a very good reputation in Georgia. I can speak personally about Jeff Dixon and I can say with all honesty when it comes to Obsession Bows you will be hard pressed to find anyone any better than Jeff. Jeff has the knowledge and the technical expertise and knows how to use it. Jeff also has the equipment necessary to setup a two cams bows but he also knows how to use the equipment.

Jim Rhodes was in charge of Obsessions build department for a long time till an opportunity to open his own shop came up. So he is a guy that built a lot of the bows that have gone out and he is awesome to work with. Point remains that you can choose any one of these gentleman and not go wrong. Now a days it's not always easy to make a statement like this.

I sold a Carbon Spyder Turbo to get my Phoenix, it's my favorite bow next to my Fusion 6 !!!!!

I've shot just about everything over the years and currently am a Hoyt fan. Being I have plenty of shootable/hunting bows ready to go and hearing Obsession has a little longer than normal waiting period, I figured what the heck. i can stand the wait. Low and behold, my bow came in about 6 weeks and it actually came in before all the accessories I ordered !!

I ordered mine in Predator 3D, Evolution and Sunset orange cams, orange and black strings . Treelimb quiver in Predator 3D (back ordered a bit), Orange QAD LD rest and Dead Center 10 inch stabilizer.

Bow came in and though I haven't touched it yet, my brother said it is as detailed fit to finish as any bow he has ever seen, and he's seen 1,000's of bows over his 40 years of archery. Said it draws like butter too.

The biggest concern so far is inconsistent speeds or inconsistent chrono's. I intend to shoot mine on the same chrono against a few Hoyts to measure it up against. It might be plausible that these bows are over rated IBO wise. It's just a matter of how far off mine is. I read more the Fusions coming in slow and not much on the Evolution, got my fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I think I have a pretty good handle on this company now. Enough so that I am going to try one. Some friends of mine shoot them as well. I tried them and liked them. I guess I will post a short review and pictures after I get it set up.
I think it is really a unique marketing model in the archery industry, that they have so many different camo patterns to choose from, coupled with colors on limb dampers, and cams you can create unlimited customized combinations. I love the theory, but this may be what causes the log jamb of back orders. Hopefully they get this worked out, and caught up, and still make it possible to order your bow, your way.
I was going to order one, but got too excited to wait. I found one in stock in my draw, and the weight I wanted, not necessarily the camo I wanted. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I am gonna shoot it for a while. If I like it I may order a custom set up. Although the special ops is really growing on me.
