My buddy is there and just told me an archer took an arrow in the head. My friend and his group helped him and carried him out. Not to sure how it happened yet.
The only other TAC Venue I have attended is Seven Springs, so I'm not sure how West Virginia compares to others. There were a lot of opportunities to put me on my ass, and a few succeeded. If the course was unsafe and they still went forward, that seems a bit crazy.
You should come shoot TeamWhiskey events! There are no roads, just steep slopes, canyons, vistas, that will change your world…The only other TAC Venue I have attended is Seven Springs, so I'm not sure how West Virginia compares to others. If anyone's shot the Hoyt Course at Seven Springs (shooting up or down from a road and then scrambling down the hill to retrieve arrows), Leupold was similar, and Jack's Links was significantly worse.
This is incorrect, they were retrieving their arrows from the target. From the fog of war of events, as told to me, there was a group behind them and thought it was clear to shoot the target. From what I heard he left the designated course and cut through a no go area.

What a tragedy! Thanks for the update! I’m setting up 3 courses this summer for TeamWhiskey and I’ve always worried about this sort of event! I hope he recovers! This is so deeply sad to me as a 3D course and TeamWhiskey course setter as it is always my fear that no matter how safe I set the course, some inexplicable event will hurt some innocent archer. We are here at TAC WV as well. Were on Prime course as this fellow was on Sitka. Talked to many of the vendors in the infield, here is their take:
A dude was bent over looking for an arrow that missed behind a big target.
His group walked away and called "clear," and left him behind, not knowing he was still there at the target.
He stood up and walked the wrong way, directly in front of another target as the group at the shooting stake were letting lose. Hit in the temple at 40ish yards.
Patient was stabilized (40 min) before he was life flighted out.
All second-hand, of course.
Will post more tomorrow.
