I activated 7 cams today(all x and xb models I've used over the past years) and all had issues getting pics it worked itself out over the past few hrs but I still have one that is in spot that has great service but flashing one bar red for service. Plus my last gen one won't work either now. I think there is something going on with Network or something with new app stuff. CS told me to wait for check 8n pics and might work then and all did work after that but the 1 with red bar for service.

Does the red bar mean I have a bad sim card?

Anyone ever replace a bad sim card for their reveal X?
I own 2 and one of them wont get a signal. I swapped sim cards and now it works. It even sent a test pic.
I was going to send it in for repair, but it costs like $20 to fix plus I have to pay shipping to Tactacam. (probably another ($20).
Since I now know the issue, I was wondering if I could just buy a cheap Verizon data only Sim card off amazon.
Where you get new SIM card? And was it flashing 1 bar red when you had bad sim card?

All photos count towards your allotment. The squirrels take to many selfies so I practice the aim small miss small on them when I’m deer hunting. I love my tactacam. Been very pleased with the photos and videos day and night. Best advice is to try your best to have the camera facing north. This will reduce bs pics from the sun moving. If not then south is the next best option.

I have my water tank revel pointed north on a treeline and it takes 100 to 200 pics a day on a sunny day of the shadows of the trees. I leave it since I have unlimited pics tho. My south facing in open areas do awesome and north is great also if not tree shadows.

In the woods, with the leafs on I can, face any direction and not have much false triggers.

Yes, getting 1 red bar means no signal.

It's either a bad external or bad internal antenna. Or the sim card. Try swapping a a like camera with the antennae and sim card from an identical one to see if that helps.
I know the Reveal X sim cards can be swapped, not sure about any other models though.

I got an RMA to send mine in but decided to swap sim cards and it worked. I don't need it diagnosed. I just need a new sim card.

Mines on a xb model so I'll have to drive 5 hrs home to get an xb sim card to try or I might try a x model sim card and see. But In the end I'll need a new SIM for the cam I took it out of lol

I have not spent a ton of time combing through this thread, but has anyone had issues with batteries draining extremely fast???

I have five total with one of them being an SB. None of them have given me any issues for the most part except for the the SB. It has been a nightmare from day one. Had to do some crazy reset when it was saying every pic was from the year 2068 at 6:12 AM. Got that fixed eventually.

Now it’s killing batteries. I have wasted at least 60 plus. The cam will take under 100 pics and it’s toast. Does anyone know a fix? CS has not been helpful. I use the recommended brands and models.

Yep I have a bad sim card and xb sim card works in that cam (x model) that wasn't working (red light) and put that sim card in my xb that was working and yep now that one is red light on signal spot.

So now I need to know where to get a new SIM card lol

I have a email in asking Tac reveal how I get new SIM card so hopefully they help out tomorrow.

Not exactly the same, but I have one that eats batteries when the memory gets full and it starts to overwrite old files.

I have had other brands of cameras act like you describe when the SD card was starting to go bad or corrupt. Try putting in a new SD card and see if that helps.

Has anyone done the new firmware update? Just spoke with a rep and he said that the pics in the app will be much clearer than what we’re getting now on the X 2.0 and the Pro.

Fyi, I was told by CS not to swap sim cards as it will cause future issues with reactivation since that card will be in a different cam it will turn that sim card on in different camera.

Can buy a,new SIM card for 5.99 CS told me today.

Funny, they never mentioned that to me. I deployed the one I swapped out already, hopefully all goes well.
I got an email saying a new sim card was $11.99 plus $5.99 shipping. awfully steep...I may just forego getting one.
While they are a useful tool, I dislike their reliability. The picture delay between the X models is always no lower than 6-7 seconds. The XB is way worse. It won't retrigger for 14-15 seconds between each trigger so I I know it's missing a lot. I have adjusted the delay to zero seconds between pictures and single pics but it changes nothing. I have pics sent twice a day, so transmitting isn't causing the delay problem.

I also have yet to understand why the color clarity is so much different between my X models and my XB. The greens are better on the black flash. Everything is dull and washed out on the X model. These pictures were taken on the same tree, same spot, 3 minutes apart.

Has anyone updated to the new app version? Is it worth it or should I stay with the old one?
My Iphone updates all apps automatically. Every time I log in the app is different....LOL Guess I'm just used to it never being the same.
I can't say as the thumbnails look any better either. I can't compare it to last fall's images. It's just been too long between me using these cameras.

Does anyone have any experience with how reliable these cameras are? I have two set up on some areas with really heavy deer traffic and it seems like I’m not getting as many pictures as I used to with the browning cameras we used before. We would get between 5,000-10,000 pictures in a week with the old cams, and not nearly as many with the reveal. I haven’t had time to sit over one of the spots to see if it takes pictures when a deer moves in front of it, but does anyone have any input on their reliability?

I changed the settings in my reveal X last Monday to start sending pics once a day instead of immediately , and it totally stopped sending pics.

I already stated above that the reveal X model cannot trigger faster than 6-7 seconds between triggers. The black flash XB is a lot slower at 14-15 seconds between triggers. So yes, they miss a lot more than what trail camera users are accustomed to. A Tactacam representative confirmed this was normal, so not just an exception in my case. It feels good to be able to set the camera for zero delay in the settings...........but in reality it does nothing but make you feel good. Setting it for instant transmission only adds to the delay. The sensors are finicky so one must definitely use their cell phone to place them properly, but they won't trigger much above the centerline.

I don't know if other cellular cameras are the same but I know for sure that these are not true "trail" cameras. They are good food plot cameras though.

I’ve had like 4-5 models of tactacam and I can’t say I have ever had one act properly for any length of time after toggling that setting. No change, twice a day, once every few days, etc and the infamous “works for a week and then goes back to instant”.
